Why Bother? This isn't to be a smart ass, I am honestly just not seeing the benefit of growing this way. So, I figured I'd ask someone in the know.

Thanks for reading.

Peace,

really?

your right its a huge wast of time - I mean why would you want an even canopy - or to maximize your space/yield while keeping under the legal limit...

I say grow 6 foot trees under a 400 watt light - it will give the best results everytime!

Everyone has their preferences and their resources available to them.
Here are my +'s for this particular method
- maximization of units in smaller spaces (in an 8x8, you can fit 100+ units)
- easier to control subjects in indoor environment
- when you dial in the strain you will find fantastic yields (in gpw)
- less time vegging

My deltas are:
- be prepared to have quite a few moms to clone from

Now some people go SOG DWC, NFT or eb-n-flow. This is a matter of preference as well. It's all about how comfortable you are with your recipes and skills.

it's a great way to maximize your yield while keeping your plant numbers down.

It does seem counter intuitive cutting back all of the growth under the screen. I wonder if I'd be better off going vertical but without more watts I can't imagine getting as even light distribution.
