AC Infinity Self Watering Bases

I'm setting up a Spider Farmer 55"x28"x80" and I was thinking about trying the AC Infinity self-watering bases. I see the biggest complaint is the roots growing into the base. I know companies like AutoPot uses root control sheets/discs, would there be any reason they wouldn't work for ACI bases? The root control would lay on the ACI base, wicks on top of root control and pot on top? I think putting the wick under the root control would be better but idk if the root control will soak through it enough or not?

I'm not 100% sold on the ACI bases, just considering my options.

Also, does anyone know the diameter of the base shown in blue? ACI only shows the length from the strainer to water gauge.

If I had to guess its about 15" I will measure tonight when I get home. But I did run 4 of these outside last year with 7gal pots. I will say you should clean them out once a week or 2.

Thank you for that! I was thinking 4 plants with 3 gal pots in the 55x28 tent, I'm hoping 4 of those bases will fit.

I have used up to a 7gal on the regular basis. I need to but 4 more myself.
