Adding a carbon filter

I have 2 XXXL hoods with a 8" vortex fan pulling air from outside thru them and back outside. Can I add a Can 125 with a 6" Vortex with a Y coupling into the same ducting that runs thru the lights?

Be careful with ducting y's. The ducting will have to be equal length to flow the same amount of air. I'd run them in series.
