Air pots vs. Smart pots.

I'm sure this has been debated before around here. But I need opinions on the pros and cons of Air pots and Smart pots. Thanks all !

Don't they both do the same thing?
Keep the roots from circling the pot, prevent rootbound and make the pots dry quicker?

Air pots allow water to push through the bunch of holes in the pot allowing air canals giving easy and more oxygen to the roots. Havent tried smart pots.

I've used 3- and 5-gallon fabric pots (Smart pots) a couple of times, and they seem to work OK. This grow I've switched to 3.5 gallon Air Pots (with coco). I would assume both do a good job of aeration, but the Air Pots do have a built-in raised floor. The base of an Air Pot is raised up an inch or two from the bottom. You can't see this from the outside, but it helps prevent roots from possibly sitting in a puddle of water and definitely improves airflow under the bottom of the pot. Can't go far wrong with either. If you do LST and use fabric pots, a trick I found is to use a handheld paper hole punch to cut holes every two inches around the top of the pot to attach wire ties. I suppose I can do that with the Air Pots by going through the holes already there.
