Autoweek; 'The Huracán has the unenviable task of replacing the most successful Lamborghini model of all time when it goes on sale next year. With a production run of more than 10 years, the Gallardo racked up 14,022 sales worldwide prior to an official end to production on Nov. 25, 2013.'

That means my Gallardo will be less expensive, now that it's no longer the new model. It won't be terribly 'rare' or exceptionally 'collectible', either; Lamborghini has built more Gallardos than all other Lamborghini automobiles ever made, all put together. At least twice over! I'm thinking I could get a nice one for less than six figures coming up here in a year or two...

Y'all didn't think I was just doing this for fun, did ya?

Don't get me wrong, the new one is stunning. But MacGyver isn't going to be satisfied with just driving... he wants to get his hands dirty under the hood!

Soooo, gonna stick with a lil ol' Gallardo 5.2, do the water cooled twin turbo conversion...

A man's gotta have goals.

I was always more of a Countach man myself. Love that 80's style.

Oh, hell ya! Countach is NOT 'aerodynamic'- it is meant to BLUDGEON offending air molecules out of the way!

I'm not sure, but more teenagers might have whacked off to Countach posters than to ones of Cheryl Tiegs... it had to have been close.

I'll take an Audi A8L W12...too old for those tiny ass sportscars these days....kinda like crotch rockets...cant even bend my body into a full race tuck anymore lol.

They made the same car with the Lambo/Audi V10, called the Audi S8. Available in SWB only... and now out of production, replaced by a twin turbo V8.

I am a major car enthusiast, and the early model Gallardo's can be had right now for under $100k mint. (look on E-bay).
I actually prefer the 6sp models over the paddle shifters.
They use V10 engines as opposed to the Murcielago which has the V12.

I'm a gear nut, too- as a fellow enthusiast, you'll understand why I'm holding out for a '10 and up with the stronger 5.2 block. The old motor wouldn't hold up under heavy loads from twin turbo conversions.

I totally want the manual, but I'll settle if I gotta... the egear is faster, after all. Just not quite so involving. I don't think you could get the Superleggera with a manual anyway.

And with all that zip, the two wheel drive version would just be dumb. It's for poseurs, anyway...

Always Loved the Lambo's but this guy below has been "Layin' the Smack Down" on Everybody and Everything for for Ages... That's when I knew I had to Have One and now I do. It's A 67 LS7 based car and will run 180+ mph No Prob but I'll have to get it to Mohave to see if 200+ mph is within reach. The Car Is Plated and Registered, Totally Street Legal.
No Posers... ;)

Back Then...

Now.... (Car was Retired for approx. 10 yrs.)

I've seen the Big Red Camaro, sweet ride. It's no match for a properly tuned supercar, though- aerodynamics from the '60s and rear wheel drive are serious limitations, and don't think those guys used less than supercar money to build it like that, either!

You must not be familiar with the Silver State Classic that was in Nevada back in the day... Point A to Point B, Approx 175 Miles of Freeway shut down where you Run what You Bring... The records are still available, Many Super Cars Tried and Failed. It was the beginning of the 200mph club as they called it, (Average over the 175 mile run, Big Red hit speeds over 230 mph @ points along it) If it was due to Fear of Crashing A Super Car or Other Reasons, they just didn't rise to the top. That included Lambo's and Ferrari along with all the others. They all Come to the Mohave Mile / Texas Mile and few run the speed Big Red Does and if their was anywhere to run A car for A 175 mile run you can rest assured R.J. would be there because that is where he began but it no longer exists so all you can go by is the Ones he Already Beat...

Mohave Mile / Texas Mile and A couple of others is all that is left to show who will put the Pedal to the Metal and Big Red is still there... Show me who has Ran Faster... There may be A couple, but not many...

A True 200 mph+ car and the guy does it on A regular basis... Definitely "No Poser"

i can't imagine that car with over 700ft/lbs of torque like this guy is running. i had a '68 SS. the rear end was so light it was ridiculous. it would take some major work to transfer that sort of torque to the pavement.
