How I press rosin.

Step 1 Prep the bag. Make sure your seams are on the inside and push the corners into the bag. This corner tucking method is called bottle tech. You can fill the bag by hand or use a pre press. The pre press is a form to compact the flower before pressing. The more compact and evenly distributed the flower is before press the better.
View attachment 2625909View attachment 2625910View attachment 2625911View attachment 2625914
Step 2 Preheat the press. 180-190f is my sweet spot.

Step 3 Preheat the puck. 60 seconds. Place the filled bag standing up between the plates and close the plates down on the bag. You arent pressing yet just a firm hug to allow the heat to start melting the trichomes.

Step 4 The press. Start to squeeze the puck should be about 1/8-1/4 inch with good pressure. 25-40%. Hold for 30 seconds. Increase pressure over 30s with slow steady pumps to 60-75%. Hold for another 30s. Again slow and steady increase to 100% over 30s. Hold final squeeze for 30s. Warm up and full press should take 3-4 minutes. 100% isnt the full power of your jack. What 100% pressure is varies on size of puck and plates. This is where your situation will determine how heavy to press. I guesstimate 3-4t is the max needed for a 7-10g puck. There is exact math out there for correct pressure if you want to search for it.

Step 5 Releasing the jack. Very straight forward but be sure to secure the paper and the puck as you release pressure and the plates drop. You dont want that puck sliding into the rosin.

Step 6 Collection. This stuff cam be both sticky and brittle. Take one of your tools and scrape the rosin into a ball. If its too sticky put it in the fridge for a minute. You can also use a chilled cold plate under the paper when collecting to assist in removal. Once you have some collected on the tool you can use a dabbing motion to stick the tool/ball to the rosin on the paper giving it a quick jerk to pull it off.

Step 7 Put into jar/jars and store in fridge.

I left out a very important part. Before you put your puck in you need to get your parchment paper in place. Fold a piece of the paper in half and place between the plates. The fold in the back and the opening facing you.

Glad I found this, I recently got a 4 ton dabpress and got into pressing.

I have some plants currently drying, that I will be pressing once they are ready.

Here’s some stuff that I pressed and tinkered around with, trying different temps, bag sizes and material.

I’ve been unsure when to press the plants I have hanging, but I’m thinking I will start as soon as they’re ready for jars, maybe 6 days in my environment

Right after the dry is best no need to cure first. I think 63 rh% is a good cutoff. If your buds are below 63% use which ever method you prefer to bring them up.

I just read the whole thread. Good stuff. Saw some questioning of the corner folds. If you dont fold the corners it leaves a small gap and theres nothing to press any rosin in that gap through the bag on to the paper. Rosin is just left in the bag. You cant press it hard enough without blowouts to get the rosin out.

Ive only pressed a couple pucks with them but press club has some unique bags. I'll be giving them a better test in the near future.

Bro, you ever tried these little silicon jar things? I used those and I feel your pain:
I’ve got them in 2 & 26 gram sizes. Makes rosin work a lot cleaner

For your first few presses your right there. But, if I avg 15+% across strains then I’m content. You’ll get there just work on recovery, oh and make sure just a bit too damp to burn easily

I found this feller among a set of wax carving tools and it’s become my go to for recovery. It works just as well pushing or pulling with very little waste. I wipe it directly into that large silicone bowl. Easy peasy

Gotta see what happens and learn that threshold : ) it really can come down to an extra half pull too soon after the last one and youll get a blowout. Also for my liking and where im at with the process i really didnt mind some of the leaf matter to pick through to get the extra bit of rosin lol (im really not sure how much extra im getting, just makes me feel better!)

And obviously you dont have to do this at all : ) just my thoughts on how to really get that feel for it. either way, its one of the coolest things i have done with herb and absolutely love home pressed homegrown rosin, super fun to make!

Dont forget we are pressing rosin not smashing rosin. Slow steady pressure build up allows the rosin to flow and be squeezed out to the edges of the puck.
