Alternating nodes

Hi,
I'm growing a landrace sativa from seed. I am wondering how long before nodes start alternating? Also, can I start trimming branches after only 5-6 nodes? I don't want the plant to end up too tall.

You can start topping/lst or other at that size. Usually about 3-5 weeks to show maturity.

I'm kind of confused about topping. Should I trim off the branches below the node I topped at?

No! Those will grow Into big branches now.

Shoot! I trimmed off the branches with the single-bladed and triple-bladed leafs.
