Am I ready for a trellis?

Hey guys this is my first grow. I was wondering how big I should let my plant get before I add a trellis.
Nice start so far!

You have some time but to best answer your question, we need to know how much head room you have in your tent. We also need to know if any other plants will be going in there with it.

You can add a scrog net at any time even if its higher than the canopy at this point. The plant can grow into the net. Anyway, let us know a bit more about your setup ... especially your over-head space. Let us know if this plant will be flowered all by itself or will it be sharing the tent. There's no one size fits all answer because everyone's grow is different.

Nope this is the only plant being grown this run. And I have a 3x3 tent with about 3 feet of extra room abovea atm. That’s with leaving the led with 12 inches for flower.

In other words, with a mainlined plant that won't be super tall, you have plenty of room. What is the growth characteristics of the strain?

Bro I just snapped of of my stems like a doofus. 2 of the leaves are drooping already. Do I just leave it till I know for certain?

It happens sometimes. I'd leave the tape and see if it takes but the wilting isn't a great sign. You'll know tomorrow if you were able to save it. If not, carry on. These things work themselves out. You likely won't miss any yield if you veg it enough to get some new growth.

Sweet thanks for the advice, The strain is sour diesel. I’m not too sure on characteristics. The website says it tends to grow tall and is sativa dominant but honestly looks like indica leaves to me. And seems to be on the shorter stockier side. But I wouldn’t really know with all the topping and chopping the last few weeks. The genetics seem pretty hardy and stable though. As far as the trellis should I just start it when I have enough room to work with under the trellis? To feed and what not?

See if you can find out the average stretch on your Sour D cultivar. You'll know if your strain tends to stretch 3x to put the net a bit higher than if it were to only stretch 2x.

And yes, there's no sense in putting the trellis in there at a heights that makes it difficult to work with. It's a sativa which usually means a bit more stretch anyway.

Edit: sativa dominant suggests to me that there is a recessive pheno that leans indica.

I think you are right about the recessive pheno. And all I could find was that it grows no more than 5 feet. Besides having less room to work with, is there any downside to doing it too early?

If it stretches like crazy, you might end up putting up another trellis up higher above the first one. That's the only down side I can see.

You can tuck and weave through the net and get it mostly filled prior to flipping your lights to 12/12. In most cases that is enough to keep you from using 2 nets.
Hmm I’ll probably have to watch a vid on this. By weave do you mean kinda snaking the branches over and under the trellis wires? I kinda thought I just kept tucking under, either way I do this until the mains are close to the sides of the tent. Then fill the dead space with the side branching? Sorry guys I’m very inexperienced. This is the first plant I have ever grown lol

I would put a trellis super low and spread the canopy till it covers every inch of that tent
Thanks bro. Just gonna let her get a bit more height cause I wouldn’t have space with how short she is now. But this is the route I wanna take 👍. Nice plants btw

Guys do I remove nodes that will be on the underside of a branch? I plan on training the main outwards toward that outer side branch that’s circled. Do I just leave it and let it grow up and around or snip it now?

Hey guys, you think I’m ready to flip? Don’t mind my ghetto contraption to catch the runoff lol

Also, I got a pretty big difference between lung room and tent rh. I have tried opening more vents, increasing inline fan speed etc. Even when my lung room is in the 30’s it’ll hover around 55-60 and skyrocket at night cause of transpiration and temp drop. Only when I open my tent door does it equalize. But then it all goes into my room, should I get another inline fan as an intake? Kind dial it just below my outtake to still maintain that negative pressure?

If you have 30% in your lung room but still have 60 in the tent you have an airflow issue. I can try to help but in the meantime during lights out you can not let them peak like that at night during transition even if you have to open the tent.

In order to move the hottest air out we remove it from the top of the tent. You can do this with an inline fan but where you situate the fan is important. I have mine on top of the tent and draw air out from a six inch hole in the top of the tent. I have seen folks put the duct fan inside killing vertical space but more important adding yet more heat to the inside of the tent. In addition the duct work on both systems must be spot on tight, air leaks allow air to go where you do not want them. Clamp all connections.
Ideally you want the air coming in to be a balanced mix from many entryways mixing in a swirl from fans. In really life we put the incoming air as far across and opposite of the exhaust down low.
I have a 4x4 with a raised floor. I placed towels and rubber strips around the edge of the floor raised 13 inches up. Under the floor are the square vents with insect screens open and drawing in coolest and lowest humidity in room. I move a round plastic tube against the tent wall creating a 2 foot gap that air comes out of. 4 fans in lights push air down 1 sweep fan above plants crates chaos with the airflow. Outside will be 45% inside will be 47% all day and all night. Lung room is a 12x12 room.

Explain your heat extraction method. How fast do you run fans and what traces do you see long term like always between 60 unless tent is open always.

I vent out the top of the tent. With the inline fan up top as you mentioned. However it is only a 4 inch and can fit up top just above the highest hanging point of the light. I have 2 4 inch ducts on either side of the bottom of the tent for passive intake. They do help a lot as I can see when I turn it off completely. But it seems I get diminishing returns to a point it stops dropping at like 55 rh.. with lights on. I have uncovered the square vents. Didn’t help. If I increase the fan to 10 (usually run at 6) it drops it maybe 2 more %. But it seems it’s mostly sucking the sides in. The only time I can get it to equalize is like I said when I leave my tent door open. But then it’s like, why even have a tent. Then I got all this heat and humidity dumping into my room. So I just chalked it up to not enough fresh air exchange and was thinking about just getting a active intake
