I see some amber, this is about when I start planning to chop. Move lights up stop watering and wait three or four days check again for a few more amber, then down she comes. It looks like one or two percent... I shoot for ten percent.

Hey Bro! Thanks for replying. That pic was from a few days ago, I ended up cutting down last night so I can set up the closet as a veg room now. Have some seedlings getting ready for their big light.

Wonder what the commercial growers do to check the progress of the trichs. Do they check every single plant? That could be millions of calyx's! What are the dispensaries aiming for during a trichome analysis? Given it's a THC dominant, not CBD. I mean I look at the herbs I buy and the trichomes appear to be cloudy. This is the trickiest part of it I think cause it is up to the grower to make the call but what if the grower doesn't know what they want?!

You can cut a small piece of a bud and dry then vape if you need to know how done they are. I usually make a tin foil canoe and out the bud in it place over the opening of my toaster and dry that way, turning the toaster in low then checking. If not dry enough you can do it again.

Lol. Commercial Cash croppers grow on a schedule. No one is checking anything. They run cuttings and cut at 8 weeks whether its ready or not.

I still have not had anything worth buying from the stores. Its the main reason i grow.

I got got 3 plants same strain gonna chop at different times and test curing and trich stages so I will know my own personal preference! Part of the reason we all grow is to suit our own individual tastes and needs. Just my opinion

If you mean 3 plants from seed they are likely different phenotypes and will be well, different. So the trich test wont really tell much.

Best to wait till he flowers are truly done growing and then harvest when the plant has mostly cloudy milky trichones for highest potency.

Hey guys,

I haven't weighed anything yet but it's still drying.

I am looking at the buds I am producing and they are kind of airy compared to what I buy. Here are some pics and I attached a side by side comparison of what I buy compared to what I grow and I am wondering what I need to do to get mine that dense?

Thanks guys! Happy weekend.

They would be growing a cut with flowers like that first of all. Then if you had the same or similar plant keeping heat down and light optimal with excellent ventilation and air movement or if sealed room proper use of co2. Also nutrients need to be dialed in. No deficiencies and no overfeeding. All can hurt bud quality.

Yep from seed so is possible that even though they came from the same bank and are the same strain they will be different and have different needs as well? Kinda like our children, even though they are from the same parents man are they different! Lol

Good analogy.

Hey guys, can you coach me into growing thick buds like the ones on the right side of the pic above? Think I am going to start with adding compost to the soil mix.

Stable proper environment and keeping the light in the sweet spot. As little plant stress as possible.

No additives or tricks are responsible. Their benefits are minor compared to the environment and happy plants.

Only going on 6 years. But i have been growing a plant at a time staggered for 5 of them perpetually. Mostly different seeds every time. It was like having hundreds of individual grows. I tried to improve every time.

I hear ya. Well, luckily I have more seeds to keep practicing with!! I want to make a mother plant to help out down time from germination to veg stage. Def think it has to do with my soil and pot size and small factors that I can tweak.

I just kept practicing with the same soil nutes and lights and although i tested different stuff along the way im still using what worked for me from the beginning.
