So I mainly grow photoperiod plants indoors & outdoors but want to try my hand with afew Auto’s again each time I got good quality however not the best quantity. What’s the best medium to use? And is there any good tricks or secrets I should know. Did alot of reading but I always like to hear from first hand experience. I live in a east coastal fishing town so I have a shit load of aged homemade Crab & Shrimp meal, crushed oyster shells, compost and got 24qt of perlite and 3cu ft block of peat moss

I’m pretty wet behind the ears still but I use Gaia green organics. Timing the feedings is a little difficult because it takes 2 weeks to break down. I feel like salt based nutes would work better but haven’t tried them yet. Hard to judge when autos will start flowering. Feels like a huge guessing game.

Last time I grew them it was right at week 4 to 6 they started preFlower. I know they can be bitchy and a pain in the ass but that’s the part that make me won’t to keep trying plus it gives me something to fiddle with between the photo plant

Northern Lights Auto. Outdoors Big Pot. 10 gallons. No smaller. Don't plant to early. 1st or 2nd week of June so it's warm outside. This mix drains very well. Don't worry about over watering.

Potting Mix
25% Perlite 25% Vermiculite 50% Peat. Keep it super light and fluffy!
The vermiculite is loaded with Silica This is the magic in this recipe.
Add 40 Grams Garden Lime per Gallon potting mix.
Add 10 Grams of Granulated or powdered Gypsum pr Gallon potting mix.

If you can get your hands on Pro-Mix
Promix

Start the seedlings on 5-15-5 as it has a rooting hormone made from willow trees in it to get the plant off to a good start.
2.5ml in 2 L water = 75ppm N just about perfect for this week, again mid week if needed. This is a very light solution.
You must always water until 10% runoff.

Week 3 - Start feeding 3-6-12 for the rest of Veg. This will make for a super bushy plant, not real tall. Lots of cola tops for you.
1 tablespoons or 30ml pr gallon water will give you about 100 ppm Nitrogen. The trick here is to treat it like coco. You must water until 10% runoff every time you water. If you water every day use this solution. If you water every other day use this solution. This is a very light solution and the plant will love it. She will keep you up at night creaking.

When she starts to show white hairs and buds start forming.
Mix a cup of each 5-15-5 and 3-6-12 50/50 in a jug. and mark it Blooming.

5-15-5
3=6-12
--------
8-21-17 Feed the plant 10ml pr gallon every time you water for the rest of Bloom.
About 100ppm Nitrogen. Same watering schedule. If you water once a day water with this solution. If you water twice a day water with this solution. If you water once every 3 days water with this solution!

3 weeks before harvest. Switch back to just 3-6-12 30ml per gallon for a week. Every time you water.

2 weeks before harvest Just Something like Monster Bloom $20 on amazon.
Just a little 0-50-30 - 1/4 gram pr gallon. Every time you water same as usual.

Last 7 days Flush very well and just water for the last week!
Monster Bloom

Any signs of Calcium or Magnesium problems top dress with Lime and Gypsum.
Add 40 Grams Garden Lime per Gallon potting mix.
Add 10 Grams of Granulated or powdered Gypsum pr Gallon potting mix.

Don’t overwater, don’t stress & don’t defoliate.

they can start flowering as early 2-3 weeks breeder depending Albert some strains will veg longer still you get very little veg time so every thing you can to do not stress her or overwater counts.

The best medium is the one your comfortable with the easiest would be soil.

Personally I would send you down the organic route as that how I grow still that choice is yours 😋

Good luck

So I had seed companies send me autos when I ordered photos...and i started topping autos... I was lucky on a few but this is what can happen

Notice how small the plant is... if looking for quantity stick with photos... can train photos for bigger yields... autos can be topped but timing is difficult

I’m not necessarily looking for a huge harvest from it I just want to do better then last time. I feel like the experience of being able to also grow good Auto’s will help me have a better understanding and make me a better farmer.
Thanks

I just noticed. 1 Tablespoon = 15ml. Not 30 per gallon. Sorry guys.

So my new seeds came today an I got
3 free Milky Way F1 auto seeds so I made 2 medium mixes for indoor grow an my plan is to put a Royal Haze in a pot of each and a Milky Way seed in a pot of each and see what happens. They’re germinating so there’s still time for last minute changes.
- 1st blend
3pt peat moss
2pt perlite
1pt compost
2 cup crushed oyster shells
1 cup crab meal
1 cup shrimp meal

- 2nd blend
3pt peat moss
1 1/2 pt perlite
2 cups crushed oyster shells
1 cup crab meal
1 cup shrimp meal
