Hi mate, yeh I think now I know to check them at least every 2 days once the buds start forming. We only had rain the night/morning before I visited in the afternoon though so I'd be very surprised if rain caused all of that in a matter of 12hrs maximum.
It's pretty confusing, I reckon I must have just gotten unlucky with this one. Perhaps I accidentally splashed a bud during watering and it developed from there.
On the bright side I have just visited this morning and I seem to have been able to stop the spread. This operation has gone from trying to get a years supply to trying to get a couple ounces of quality smoke but at least I didn't lose them all. That'd be depressing.🤣
It’s a longshot, but somebody might have found them and came back with some herbicide to throw over the fence! I’ve seen gorilla grow in England that was too close to a Wheatfield! They use roundup on wheat crops and he got caught by the overspray! Took him a week to figure it out, but he did when the farmer came by on a tractor spraying the shit! Lol

I highly doubt it because of where its situated. It's basically waste land in between 2 pieces of key infrastructure hence the fences. I've got a locked fence and another fence with wire I wrap around in a unique way to spot any invasions and there's been no trace since I put the lock on.
I was thinking it is more likely the rot had been passed onto the plant by a pest that picked up the fungus from an effected plant.

Went back again today and I have a feeling I have found the culprit for the bud rot. I could be wrong but it looks as though a lot of the nettles in the area have gone bad, especially those ones that I had roughed up to clear space. Anyway it looks like they're decaying and some of them carrying fungus. The dead leaves looked very furry compared to the healthy ones. I took a photo for your viewing.

So what I have learned is that surrounding dead plant material can pose a threat to the plants. I made sure I stamped on the worst looking suspects but I couldn't go too far as I would leave the plants too exposed.

Hi you might have something there, weather has been very dry so not caused by high humidity or water sitting on the buds for days. Too much feed would usually affect leaf ends. When I set up my grow room and put some pics up, a guy here spotted some foliage on the floor that I had trimmed that day, he said don't leave anything like that in there, can cause big problems.
Nettles are a different species but mold must be same.

So I've done a bit more research and visible fungal Infection the nettles have is called rust fungus or something like that which is why they're going a rusty colour. That specific fungus doesn't effect cannabis plants however. I'm thinking that if they have that type of fungus there's a pretty good chance they will also have grey mold which they can also get and is the type of mold that causes bud rot.
I think the decaying plant matter is the most likely reason either way.
It's difficult to get the right balance between having coverage for discretion and minimizing the chances of disease.
I'm currently scouting out another plot for next year, it's a large area that seems to be completely blocked off from the public and from Google earth it looks like there a perfect clearing I can use or adapt. The land is owned by the council so I doubt it gets much attention. There's a couple bodies of water as well which is handy.
If it is a suitable location I'll be able to get a larger crop going next year and I reckon I'll plant some photos theres a strain called Purple Maroc which is supposed to be semi-auto. Not really sure how that works
Edit: just looked it up and it just means that they start flower earlier which will help avoid the rain later on in the season.

Last year I grew a strain called sweet critical fast. I grew it inside, it was a nice smoke. If grown outside it would be ready 3rd week of September instead of 2nd week of October. These fast strains are a cross between a photo and an auto. I've never been impressed with autos but this was a good smoke.
I'm sure there's a good selection of fast strains now.

Hollands hope is a strain bred for Holland, similar climate to UK. Strong odour in flower, nice smoke.

Thanks I'll bare that in mind when I make an order. Perhaps I should try a few strains and see which one does best. It could be a nice test if I have a line up of the best known strains for these climates to see which ones king. I've also heard good things about Frisian dew also by Dutch passion and serious 6 which was also bred for the Dutch outdoors and it has pink pistils which is cool.

The plants I brought in from the back yard a week ago have started to grow nicely. Repotted the NL, the BK picking up.

I think you'll have to try a few strains. Check if they are mold resistant as well as flowering time.

It's not a famous make, I've had it about 2 years, I'll look at it in the morning. I've another one as well. When the plants are bigger I have the 2 on. Set for veg now, 6am to midnight. The 2 HH revegging, will have strange leaves for a while, instead of 7 fingers, 1 or 3. I don't know if I'll chance keeping them in the room. Will be very smelly and won't have much time to finish them outside. My neighbours roof is tempting.

It's a flat roof accessed by a skylight. Can't be seen from the street and the people living in there wouldn't be going up there. I was up there yesterday. Plant couldn't be more than 3 feet inc pot as houses over the back might see it from a top window. Not easy find places in a city.

Could you buy a bushy plant to put in between the plants and the houses out the back to give them some cover? If you ever need help finding an outdoor spot lmk your city and I'll have a gander, I've become pretty good at finding them now I think 😂.
Everyone focuses on the edge of motorways for spots and I feel like that makes them a bit risky, that and they're a bit inconvenient. There's plenty more forgotten land in urban areas.

Thanks for the offer, where I grew up we had plenty of waste land, they were bomb sites. They have all been built on, I need to get out in the car and check out a couple of places. How are the rest of your plants now?

Scrap that offer mate my plants got chopped.😭 Doesn't look like it was the police, the fences were smashed down and potential evidence was left behind. I'm not gonna offer that help until I've had a successful harvest myself. Such a shame but at least I've learned a lot. I've got a while to find a better spot now but I won't be trying again until I'm 100% sure about it.

I found out a couple hours ago I'm still letting it sink in. Must have been 2 weeks away from harvest

That's a real sickener, police would chop a couple of inches above ground. Thieves could just take the buds or maybe a bit more.

1 was chopped a couple inches above ground the other 2 were pulled out. I thought they would pull them all and take the pots. They'll probably boast about it on the local Facebook of it was them. I highly doubt they would have just left the fences in their current state though

Police would have cut the padlock. Some sneaky bugger must have seen them or seen you.
