Does anyone have any experience with freeze dried flower? I was doing a little reading on this, it sounds like it has some great benefits, like storage time as well as time it takes to be cured is reduced down dramatically. Things I want to know is does is make it taste any different? I read it can affect terps if done incorrectly, not the potency. It actually helps protect the THC from degrading. Any info on this topic would be great to discuss. I have experience with most things, and this is a subject I have heard about, just never indulged into learning about it.

Or even the cannatrol cold curing units. I seen those can hold 2.2 wet lbs. Any info would be cool

From my old forum one girl did frezze dry and she swears it tastes better.i have a diy canatrol and the taste differnce is huge compared to normal tent dry

I don't tent dry. I have a box that I built. It has a ventilation of 250cfm, I keep it around 67 in the room and probe test for humidity and go to jars once I'm around 30-32% internal humidity on the high and 25-28% for the low. Then do the whole process of burping jars after until I get my buds internal moisture content to around 15-17%. It can be a timely process depending on the size of buds. It's similar to a tent setup, but easier for me to control a constant air exchange and the rh more controlled, I have not had luck with tent drying, either I run to many cfms and not enough humidity in the tent and get wind crisp. How does the cannatrol work? Is it all cured inside the unit and able to be bagged once ran through the cannatrol?

Basicly a machine takes out humidity soo its allways 60% and keeps the temps low. Soo basicly ita like you jarred it as soon as you cut but humidity never raises.
Mine diy takes out humidity but drops it in puddles on the floor first 2 or 3 days i need to manually remove it but after that it frezzes on the dehumidifier and it stays stable

Last time i left it inside for half a year.when you break a flower the whole house starts smelling

That definitely sounds ideal. After I put the buds in with 56%rh cure packets to bring the cure moisture back up a bit, it brings the smell out as well in the jar, the grassy smell is usually when I get that over crisp on the outside of the bud. Some people say I bring the humidity to far down, but I found by doing so with a week of rehydration with the packets. I can store for years without issue and the weed stays just like it was initially. I want to run a harvest through one to try it out, or try someone's that is cured through one before I spend the 1500 on that. I am working on buying a gorilla tent and light for my live soil trials. So eventually I am going to want to make my life a little bit easier. As it is I feel like I am constantly waiting for bud to cure, then dealing with all these damn Mason jars. If I could just go straight from chop to the cannatrol to storage. With half my main flower room, I run that a bit mature and that goes directly into a deep freeze before I process it into live resin. That's about the easiest thing I have going for me at the moment.

Mine costed maybe 150$ got an old wine fridge from ebay for a 100 and a aliexpress dehumidifier for 10$ and a temp humidity controler for maybe 30.had 2 tiny cpu fans to keep the air moving inside.but it only fits around 300g dry weight.you can fit more but then humidity takes ages to go down from 80% makes me feel bad

I go little over 60% for rosin still a noob soo maybe i am wrong with that but i got better numbera than when i was 57%

Yea for rosin, a little dry is better. I'm running about a pound per run using a propane/butane close loop. Then dewinntering some, and decarbing some, it depends on what I want to make with it or what I want to smoke. Some stains make some great edibles. Most give you that taste of extract, I have found with creamy taste terps it's not noticeable, and running it freshly chopped, your extracts come out clear and also have no plant matter that makes it through the micron screens so your receiving pure turpenes and THC and resins. If your dabbing it, your nail doesn't get filthy and black, more of just a thicker oil.

Here is some oil that was live still being processed

That looks weird.like a hand inside.

You got any luck with rosin that is like butter creamy i want to make that but have no idea how.mine is usually like glass

Everything Ive heard is that its used on material intended for extracts. I think theres a way for flower but its not like "throw it in the deep freeze"

My first run I used my apartments ac with a humidifier to dry very close to 60/60. I used blankets and redirected vents so the apartment was 68-69 and the room was 60-63. I got 10 days before snaps. Then into grove bags for a month. Couldnt wait anymore and started smoking it.

I think thats from whipping it after production. Ive never even hit extracts but Im a stoner and know stoner things. I believe its actually called butter.

Does it speed up the process?

That was pulled straight from the parchment, once fully cured and hardened it looks like glass

No you cant whip mine.when you press it its like tree rosin.basicly shatter.its hard from the start and butter looks ofter.
As for the speed not really it takes maybe 2 days to go from 100% humidity to 80 or 70 and then 5-6 days it jumps from 60 to 70 until it stops and becomes stable

For me it depends on how much I am willing to go pull vacuum and what temp I am running at. I set my dial at 81°f and pull vacuum about 4 times a day for a 1.5 hour duration at a time. If I am running cured product it is less then 3 day for a fully stable product. If it's live resin, it takes about 5 days and an additional 2 weeks for a good cure for the turps. You can smoke it right away, but it won't have a terpene profile until it sits, the only thing you will taste for the for few days is the taste of weed oil. And it also depends on strain being ran. Some have very little terps that pull through and some that you can taste right off the bat.

Whats the vacume for? You doing alcohol.extracts? I just press with a 7tonne press.rosin smells like a beautiful flower parfume.buds cant even compare to it strange

The reason for putting into the deep freezer is it pulls the THC out further and makes it brittle and easier for it to be stripped. And the oils come to the surface, with hardening the chlorophyll, so none of that is stripped and pulled through with the desired parts
