I saw a gardening article where someone suggested putting pinecones in the bottom of the planter to save on soil and to help minimize standing water.

To me it sounds like a good combo for growing our plants, as the pinecones r slightly acidic(+), will aid in drainage (+) and reduce the amount of premium soil we need to buy.

Anyone try this hack? Any thoughts on this trick good or bad?

Extra soil with perlite is a better option for me. ✌️

I’m looking for ideas to raise up my fabric pots. Preferably 1-1/2” or so 👍

I've heard of people putting stuff in the bottom of pots for a while. Rocks, perlite, hydroton, pebbles...but never pinecones. It does help drainage though, should be fine.

i m using 2 to 3 cm of clay peebles bottom of my pots, but i wouldn't use pinecone it seem to big for me for proper root devellopement or drainage, also reducing the amount of medium is not what you want, bigger the roots ball the more the plant will be able to sustain more growth overall.
