Rice hull ash is plant available and the cheapest option you will find. Burn some rice hull and you have carbonized silica, all plant available and probably only costs a few pennies per plant.

I’ve been growing for about 20 years indoor and out using all sorts of organic soil mixes, hydro systems, mediums and nutrients. Currently using Cultired Solutions in RDWC and was getting interested in adding Power Si to my mix. My herb is always pretty nice but always looking to try other options. Wondering if anyone has experience with this combo and would recommend it or not? Any feedback is always appreciated. Oh and here some bud porn just for fun.

I do my own Si mix, lot cheaper... And I only use it when I flush. 2.5ml/gal (around 50-60ppm) and I don't add more between flushes... If it helps? I really don't have any idea... Never had PM but again, my environment is on point. No PM because of Si? I'm not sure, I stop using Si after the 3rd or 4th week of flowering, so around 30-40% of the flowering and a lot of time for PM to get in if it was too humid. But it's so cheap, do I want to go without? Easy to compare in soil/coco but in rdwc, impossible without 2 systems next to each other. The only way we could find out is doing the same strain/pheno 2-3 times with then 2-3 times without si and compare the final results (yields, looks, etc). And compare both RH/Temp/Ph/PPM uptake to see if there is any correlation.

Never heard of it preventing spider mites (not saying it doesn't) but any foilar that increases the ph on the leaf surface will aid in preventing pm and other fungal infections.

Sulphur burner up to the second week of flower. The residual sulphur will linger in the room well into flower and mites hate it. Other than that, ipm clean room protocol. Don't wear shoes in the grow, only wear clean clothes in the grow after a shower. Use good filters on all incoming air to the room. Don't bring questionable anything in there.
