I disagree wholeheartedly. And my point is to see what it's like to NOT be the same, hence the post lol. If I could save 50% power over someone the same in my veg and yield the same, you wouldn't e curious?!? Come on now.... Don't have to lie to kick it. Lmao

It's t5 flouro ballasts not hid. Think about a censored light, goes on and off 500 times, even on your front porch so why would that be different?

It's more or less optimization bozo, my environment is perfect but the only way to find new ways is to find them right? Hence the post and question. If you had 4 8 bulb t5s that's 1600 watts 24 a day. If it could be made 12 w the same outcome wouldn't that sound good? Same power could be used for more flower lighting and such.

yeah man, i can dig where you're comin' from but i think you might be better off just setting things ups so each of your 8 fixtures just shuts down for an extra hour or so, that way there would still be 7 fixtures lit at all times, you'd just have a traveling somewhat darker spot.

...i think this way you could still achieve the savings your looking for without putting your fixtures through the stress of repeated on/off cycles, over the long haul i think this would cost you in costs for replacement igniters, ballasts and bulbs.

...btw, T5 definitely do NOT suck for vegging, pound for pound they are a terrific option for veg lighting. ...i personally have done my vegging under fluoro's for almost 8 years and i get WAY more vegetative growth than i can use.

peace, bozo

Lmfao! u asked for our opinion...

Man why are you guys so opinionated? So you're saying someone with a more dialed regimen w 1200 watts can't produce the same as someone w 1800? Regardless of food setup training style and all???

Man II don't buy that for a second

Along the line of people that say I don't need a ph/ppm meter. I just follow the bottle. You might be able to wing it for awhile but you'll def come in last in the marathon.

Just my opinion on a few things. First; turning your lights on and off might not save you that much money, as when the lights first pull power from box, it takes much more energy to start than it does to run. Not to mention the above noted equipment up-keep. Second; have you done the math? Im not sure how many lights you are using, lets say an 8 unit fixture, at 35 watts per light the total watts ran would be 280 watts, and at a max of 7000 lumens per bulb, and being they are low intensity bulbs, that 7000 turns into less than 2000 only inches away. On the other hand and 250 watts unit provides 29000 lumens and at about a foots range that turns into less than 9000 or so lumens. A 250 can be closer than a foot with the proper hood cooled environment. so in the end are you really saving with t5's. Third; their have been studies, so please feel free to research this yourself, plants need darkness, not only do they need it, but forcing am abundant amount (24/7) of lights is a waste of energy. What we see plants do in the day, grow nice and tall, they do the opposite at night. They grow their roots nice and big. So you will get a plant that has a under sized root mass going into flowering, cutting down on your yield quite a bit. As far as the wasting energy, well the only way I have been able to make sense of it is by comparing it to cars, well their engines to be more precise. When a engine is modified to be stronger, it needs a tuno tune. This tells the owner at what RPM his motor will stop making power, even though it may be capable of going higher, if power is not made, then the gas will be wasted, so they cut the redline at that point. Well a plant has a been dyne tuned by nature, and the receptors on the plants can only do so much with the energy it gets from the light before it gets full and can do no more, and needs a break. I stop my 24/7 process as soon as my clones are ready, and seeding get started with a 18/6 hour time frame. This also allows me to run through the night saving money on electricity as from 6pm - 6am it is cheaper, leaving me only 6 hours on the expensive side.

And no, I haven't tried 15/15, and wouldn't want to. Maybe 12 on 15 off would be something to try, but having only 12 on is a great indicator to the plant that it needs to flower and fast!!! You would still flower in 15/15, but the yield might take longer to be ready as the plants will feel they have more time to get ready, and the odd schedule might stress them out a bit causing a lower yield. Again these plants have been tuned by nature, they know days are 24 hr and not 30, just like fish and birds know where to migrate even though they have never been before.

Since I doubt there are any studies why don't you run one. That way you will not have to argue someone's opinion especially when you do not have one of your own. Just do a side by side, you will know within 3 weeks or so. Let us now how bad you messed up or some glorious discovery you came up with. JK

@Jalisco Kid to whom are you speaking to? Myself? I'm not much into providing links for people, but I will if it helps. What is it you are in doubt of my friend, and i am not arguing some else's opinion, just my own. As I stated, I wouldn't want to change the lighting schedule, 24 hr is just fine for me. Its what nature gives so why change it. And before calling others posers and whatever other names that make you feel better, why don't you be a little specific if you want some kind of a response :finger: JK

@Jalisco Kid I thought you were speaking to me as I had mentioned studies that had been done, and i wasn't sure who you were referring to in regards to an opinion, as my post right before yours has my opinion in it. And I am new to this forum, didn't even know i had created an account a few years back. So when you said 1 day poser, again that could be used towards myself, as I am new. Your post was very vague as it was directed towards anyone. Lastly, I don't like people who don't have anything positive to say. People like that just waste forum space, everybody starts knowing nothing, and to have someone insult you because you asked a question can be discouraging. The fact the a question is being asked means that person wants to learn, even if it may seem like common knowledge to some, to others its rocket science.
