Correct sir.You work infront of the hepa so the jars are only exposed to cleaned air. Generally let it run to clean the room air for a period of time is good practice. I built a positive pressure box for $100 because its more economical for a small setup. But a laminar flow hood is the Cadillac
That's all most people will ever need. This was the box i made and i just sterilized with 70% isopropyl alcohol then run with a 4” inline fan connected to the hose adapter to the top box. Cut out and sealed in a small hepa filter (sooo much cheaper than the big ones i think it was $30)
Aqua, I am looking at this for bulk substrates and grain to wood substrate transfers. You work infront of the hepa so the jars are only exposed to cleaned air. You dont need it for the bulk substrate imo… just for grain to grain or agar work. Once colonized and mixing with bulk with a high ratio like 1-1 its colonizes fast enough contamination wasn’t an issue. Different process on GT. This is for edibles that use wood as food. GT likes manure. They work slightly differently. You dont need it for the bulk substrate imo… just for grain to grain or agar work. Nope just the laminated wood from Home Depot. Bought 1 sheet and cutThat's all most people will ever need.
EDIT - is that an Ikea hack?
Looks perfect. For the vast majority of folks out there, this is a great solution. Just gotta find a place to store it, which is also an issue for some folks.Nope just the laminated wood from Home Depot. Bought 1 sheet and cut
the manure should be pasteurized… but if you are doing grain/coco/verm i just hydrated with boiling water and sealed until cool enough to mix.Different process on GT. This is for edibles that use wood as food. GT likes manure. They work slightly differently.
yeah its small enough to put away and light enough to move easily. I just take the fan off and tuck it awayLooks perfect. For the vast majority of folks out there, this is a great solution. Just gotta find a place to store it, which is also an issue for some folks.
I think Anthem is looking into a more bulk solution based on conversations I have had with him.the manure should be pasteurized… but if you are doing grain/coco/verm i just hydrated with boiling water and sealed until cool enough to mix.
Yeah your mostly wood right? Never done thatI think Anthem is looking into a more bulk solution based on conversations I have had with him.
We don't use coco, vermiculite or manure. At least not for this.
I spoke to a guy for about 4 hours fishing that uses the manure for sustrate. His pasteurization process is interesting. That got me looking into mushrooms in general. Edible are pretty lucrative if you have a market for them. I have been studying up on them and Moe sent me where to look. The hood I did not fully understand. Sterility is top of the list for transfers from what little I have come to understandthe manure should be pasteurized… but if you are doing grain/coco/verm i just hydrated with boiling water and sealed until cool enough to mix.
Lmao this does not surprise me sir… when do you sleep
Well, sure, et cetera is a thing, just not bulk. That's a once a year thing, process to liquid and store.So... what we all cookin'? Oysters, Shiitake, etc?
y'know....
"et cetera..?"
Enoki’s are big in the Asian culture. I have a way to sell thoseWell, sure, et cetera is a thing, just not bulk. That's a once a year thing, process to liquid and store.
My favorite is Lion's Mane - we use it as a meat substitute a lot. It has a lobster like texture and very mild taste with some interesting health benefits.
All the other ones you typically think of too. I quit doing reishi because they take forever and they are not really edible - used as a powder mostly for reducing blood pressure.
My wife loves the Paddy Straw ones too - like you get in higher end Chinese food.
Enoki is fun.
Hell, I'll fruit anything.
I grow those in tall wide mouth mason jars. They are friggin delicious.Enoki’s are big in the Asian culture. I have a way to sell those
