Katsu's MASSIVE Pre-98 Bubba Kush Reversal Bean Run

Greetings! Thought I would stop by and share what I've been up to. This project will be my biggest bean run to date - a reversal of the Pre-98 Bubba Kush. Let's start with the knocked up Baby Mommas... Bubba Kush S1's Schrom x BK Bandaid Haze 7 x BK ECSD x BK ChemSis x BK GG4 x BK...

l found it interesting that Katsu recommends scuffing all his seeds before sprouting them. I used to take a little match box, put a little light sandpaper in on the bottom and shake it for a bit with the seeds bouncing around inside. It actually worked well, may have to start doing this again.

I use a disc sander in my line of work occasionally. The sand paper discs can be rolled into a tube and used to do the same thing.

That’s actually a good idea too, as little match boxes are nearly impossible to find anymore. Lol

I've heard of that, but never tried it. I have some seeds with about a 50% germination rate. Anybody know if scuffing will help with that?

Some seeds just have a harder shell and the little sprouts inside have a tougher time breaking thru.......... some strains are known for this. My basic opinion about germination has more to do with how old the seeds are and how well they've been stored. But a little scuffing never hurts, just don't over do it. The scuffing also enhances the seeds ability to absorb water, so they can start expanding to break out of the shell quicker.

Well, my buddy wasn't messing around. It will cost me a couple oz's when I get to them, but it saves me around $500 in the long run. It's always nice to have things in reserve........

This guy in France is growing Light Speed too, he's further along. He topped all the plants at the 5th node......seems like a good idea.

I usually top at the 5th node as well. Let the plants bush out a little bit and then take cuts from the bottom nodes. In fact, I just topped some seed plants and cuts at the 5th node this morning. Nice score on those Katsu beans brother! I look forward to the show whenever you run them! Positive vibes...

I've been thinking my next crop.......I see two ways to go. Grow the Katsu Sour Bubba, hope I can get the done by the 11th week by running a shorter light cycle (11-13 instead of 12-12) OR take cuttings off the Light Speed as they veg and grow it out again next time. I've seen some really good reports on the Light Speed, I may select the nicest one to be a mother.

I am only on my 1st grow but I really like how the Dracarys and the Xanadu plants have performed and sprouted without a hitch. Nice tight nodes. Seem vigorous.

Well, things are finally rounding into form. I've had to give the Light Speed more attention then I normally do at this stage, but they're doing better now. Look very closely and you can tell which plants are the LemonOG Haze Cookies and which are the Light Speed and which ones, in the end, will yield more.

What size pots are those and are they the final pots?

I own 4 gallon and 5 gallons pots.......these are 5 gallon and yes, once in there, that's where they'll finish. I do things a bit different than most people. I like to start the seeds in these pots, and not have to worry about transplanting at some point. I didn't do that this time, as I began these earlier than normal, so they were started in small round Jiffy peat pots and then transplanted to a new mix of Bx Pro-mix, dolomitic lime and perlite.

Regarding the Ethos "Cookies" thread, the rave reviews keep coming in. Actually, I recently had an old customer, who left the area and moved to Colorado for 3 years and just move back to my area again. He said it's better than 90% of the strains he's been smoking (and paying more for) in CO.

I did a few hits of it from a Volcano vape bag today, I'm well toasted. It may be a bit better than I've rated it at this point.

Not trying to blow smoke (pardon the pun) but it could be the grower LoL

Did you move the plants around after the pic from page one? Looks like it, judging the structure of the plants.

Colorado smoke was all dispensary smoke, he doesn't grow............

I think I moved 2 or 3 plants around, but Light Speed remains in the 1st two rows and the 3 plants to the left in row 3. The rest to the back of the room are the Ethos LemonOG Haze X Cookies, which haven't been touched.

If thats the case then then the light speed look like they are making up for lacking vigor to start. Setting aside the couple of laggers of course.

Back to lurking and learning for me
