Direct sowing if the seeds are legit is the best way, followed by soaking in water first, and then the paper towel method. In the end your just hurting the plants ability to begin life optimally. If you just dump salts on then I wouldn't worry about it a ton but if it's in any way an organic amendments grower I highly reccomended no paper towel

i usually have 80% 90% success rate i'd say with germination
