Came across this manual recently, has some good info in it on pests and pesticides. Worth reading to inform yourself on the subject, as it's a topic of relevance to all of us.

Organic safe automatically! People need to realize this. Chemicals are chemicals are chemicals. You need to look at every single one on its own and not on the basis of the organic/synthetic dichotomy. Cyanide is natural but deadly, LSD is synthetic and incredibly safe (from a toxicological perspective). I prefer natural pesticides too, but I look into each and every one before forming an opinion.
