you and i have had the same results with doctors. i bet removing that metal will be the solution. seems like a follow up would be the norm to remove metal from the body once healed. they removed all the titanium out of my femur/tib. but now i do have a full artificial ball/joint setup, that w ill need to be replaced soon. not looking forward to that.

i still have the metal, im gonna use it for a stick shift in my car i think. its cool looking and high quality ( well as high as medical grade titanium is i guess still shines like crome! ), oval holes where they screw it into the bone..

may as well put the damn thing to use. LOL
chris.

I'm %99 positive removing them will relieve the pain. But a 2nd surgery makes me nervous.

Most of the time I go to the doctor i have already diagnosed my problem before arriving. And it's been accurate %95 of the time.

But they treat me like I'm some dumb fool. They underestimate my intelligence and capacity for critical thinking and analyzing patterns.

yeah bro, they want sheeple.. and a easy pay check.. i know the doctors fucked my back up.. botched the surgery..

well i hope you can get fixed as soon as possible.

Yeas they want people who give full trust in them and ask no intelligent questions that make them think.

Thanks bro. Sad part is work season ramps up in a couple weeks. I'll be pissed if I miss it this year.

The goal was to get it done during off season. So I could be ready by now.

I really do dislike how they act like everyone wants to get high off their drugs. I've had a similar experience in the past. It's just terrible. We want our medical problems to be evaluated and solved not just a reapplication of band-aids for life. If your diagnosis is correct then it should be obvious to them that painkillers is not what you are after. Glad you are finally able to see him about that.

Thanks boss.

I'm gonna try my best to get the point across to him.

He was the pioneer of laparoscopic hernia repairs here in pa. He taught all the local docs how to do it. He performs 1,000's a year. Worked on sports athletes (pa penguin, pirates, and steelers) . He is top notch in his specialized field.

But this makes him very cocky and stubborn. He will talk right over me thinking only his answer is right.

I know he is the best. But he needs to listen to the patient... me.

I had a hernia surgery it took about a month to heal for the most part and in six months i was totally healed.I was never able to feel any rings staples or any thing like that. That sounds like something that should be removed before your body grows and intigrates more with the mesh

Yes but which type of repair?

I had bilateral inguinal laparoscopic hernia repair.

Did you get the standard open surgery?

Either way the healing was supposed to be fast. The fact that at my 1 week, 1 month and 3 month followup the pain was still very great. Should have been his sign. He thought I should have been healed already stubbornly thinking his skills were too great to cause this.

He was getting annoyed at me constantly calling and wanting to come in lol.

I played his waiting game to see if it goes away.

It hasn't now we need to play ball.

I got the open surgery about a 4 in. scar, judging by myself he made a mistake i would get another opinion.

It's not a mistake.

I take it you haven't delved into the medical and scientific literature revolving around hernia repairs?

There are many different ways to approach each individual patient.

The things he did were standard medical procedure. My hernias are fixed and my abdominal wall is healed. It's just the tacks remaining causing probs.

When bilateral hernias present themselves the most standard treatment is laproscapy. If a single hernia presents itself the standard is open surgery.

A big thing with hernia mesh is that it's pores so small if the doctors cause infection of the mesh the white blood cells can't fit between to clean it out.

So reopening hernia site's carry a big risk. Not something they do lightly.
Once a mesh is infected your life is ruined it never heals and mesh gets removed.

I could dive into many techniques, options, studies and complications for you.

But I've learned too much to share in one post. Im very confident he took the correct aporoach but relative to my body i had complications. Once proper healing time has passed I'm sure he can safely reopen for revision to remove the tacks.

A 2nd opinion would be by all the doctors he trained in the state lol.

He by far is the most accomplished and experienced in laparoscopic hernia repairs in my state.

I would stop smoking that iso sludge bro :drunk2:

The day I gave it away my friend was over. I've been out for a bit and my smoking rate has basically approached 0 lately.

A larf bud here and there. But for example I haven't smoked at all today.

Well that day I took a dab of the iso sludge which normally does only a little to me.

Well...
Once my tolerance had time to drop
That dab hit me very hard. Basically gave me a 10 minute panic attack lol.

Once that happened I gave the rest away.

Now I'm just gonna stop smoking until harvest. I want my tolerance to start low again so I can make this upcoming harvest last longer.

I also want to experience the subtleties of each strain.
Not something I could do with my king-kong tolerance.

The hernia repairs I have still cause me great pain

I'm positive the specific spots of pain are caused by the mesh fixation tacks.
View attachment 677780

Those get twisted into your abdominal wall during hernia repair to hold the mesh in place while it heals.

Studies show that repair is just as effective without tacks and causes less chance of chronic pain.

When I followup with my surgeon in gonna discuss tack removeal.

I'm %99 sure thats the source of my pain. I can feel the tacks through my skin if I touch the painful spots with my finger.

It sucks he made me wait 5 months in pain like this. He should have had a revision surgery within the first month.

Instead he kept dismissing me with no pain killers or diagnostic tests run. cause he thought I was just looking to score pain meds.

I fuckin hate how every doctor I ever meets passes false judgement on me. It royally pisses me off. I only see doctors as a last resort for medical help. Yet they treat me as if I'm just looking to get high.

I don't want drugs!!!

I need the doctor to take action and permanently fix the problem. Not treat my symptoms.

Why don't they ever get that??
Last time I came in complaining of pain. He thought I was trying to get pain meds frustratedly asked "what do you want me to do"

I told him I don't want drugs, I hate taking them and avoid them at all costs. I want the problem fixed!

He instead sent me home with more reassurance that it will heal and pain will subside. Told me to take otc pain meds (I again stated I don't take any meds if I don't have to, hate them) That was a couple months ago....

Sorry guys I had to vent.

Doctors have let me down too many times in my life. I trust them less and less everytime.
Yea that rings home true here brother. I have been dealing with my back for 29 years now and since I was a younger man I've always had that stigma of being a pill seeker. I've actually had an er Dr ask me the same question, what do you want me to do? I wanted to kick his ass lol funny thing is the next day I went in for surgery...dick Stay on them bro, you know your body better than anyone. Nobody will look out for you but you. If something's wrong and you know it, don't stop pushing. I think peoe in the medical profession need tonlearnnpeople skills, not just medicine. You're dealing with people, not machines. Where's the compassion? Not saying all are bad, just had my share of asshats

You would be even more pissed if you didn't have anyone to take care of you. At least you have family that will look out for you during this time. Some folks aren't that blessed. :)

Some goals dont go the way we planned.
