Ballest wont start, help??

Hey all really just did not know where else to post this so...

Ok i have a 400w CMH hooked up to a diy howard S51 ballast. Its been working for about six months and now i plug in and the ballast humms but the light does not flicker, turn on or anything. Anyone with ideas? i was thinking the wiring but i just got new wiring to go from the ballast to bulb and still nothing. I dont wanna buy a new kit if i dont have to but if no one has any ideas i just may have to.

Question: If it was the ignitor how would i know? if its the capacitor how would i tell that?

Oh also the bulb still looks good as new so im not looking to much at that.

Sounds like the ignitor, if you can you should buy a lumatek 430 of ebay, there real cheap(5 year warranty) and super nice.

thanx man thats what i thought.

also,I dont use electric ballast as the 400w for a CMH is around $500. Magnetic runs around 50 to 200 depending on what u get and like now i just need a new ignitor as opposed to a whole ballast.

You can get an ignitor for cheap as hell and there super EZ to change.

The ignitor i have now is a Howard Industries ST2000...anyone know of a better brand. This shits made in china.
