I'm sitting here reading a story about a Bay area dispensary stand-off. Someone's gone to rob a dispensary and they're holed up with some employees. Obviously, I have some strong feelings about this. On one hand I pray that it's not someone we know, but on the other hand, it doesn't matter and I hope no one's been hurt.

Police standoff at S.F. pot dispensary

(03-06) 09:37 PST SAN FRANCISCO-- San Francisco police converged Wednesday morning on a medical marijuana dispensary in the Bayview neighborhood where a robbery suspect may be holed up inside with employees, authorities said.

Police went to the building on Jennings Street near Wallace Avenue around 3:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a robbery at the dispensary. Officers saw three men outside wearing ski masks, police said.
The men ran, but police caught them within two blocks of the building, said police Sgt. Michael Andraychak, a police spokesman.

One robber may still be inside, he said. The police SWAT team and hostage negotiators surrounded the building.

Police aren't certain employees of the business are trapped in the building, Andraychak said.
"We are trying to establish communication with anyone who might be in the building to ... ask them to come out," he said.

"We have to assume the worst," Andraychak said. "We're assuming that it is a robbery, that there may still be a suspect inside and we're treating it as such."

I wish we had spin control to use this event to be able to protect ourselves w weapons.

I guess itd be smart to start up shop w a business partner next store opening a gun store.

Shit i may be onto something.

Hopefully there was nobody there at 3 am. Flowers can be replaced. Nothing is worth taking a life.

I don't know... how likely is it for a dispensary to have someone stay at the place overnight?

San Francisco -- A suspect in a Wednesday morning robbery at a medical marijuana dispensary might be barricaded inside a San Francisco building with some employees, police said.
Police have set up a three-block perimeter around the area, and a SWAT team and negotiators were on scene.
Three other suspects were arrested, and police were treating the incident as a potential hostage situation and standoff, said Sgt. Michael Andraychak, a police spokesman.
He said police received a call about the robbery around 3:50 a.m.
When officers arrived, they saw three suspects wearing ski masks running from the building in an industrial area in the city's Bayview-Hunters Point district.
The three people were taken into custody for questioning.
Andraychak said police were not sure whether the building is a legal dispensary or an illegal grow site.
"That would not be our concern right now," he told The Associated Press. "Our only concern is making sure we can end this as safely and quickly as possible."
Police previously escorted several people away from the area.

In this instance, that wouldn't break my heart. I'm going to search for updates.

Yep, here we go.

San Francisco police arrested a suspect Wednesday who had been holed up for hours with four hostages at a city-licensed marijuana-growing warehouse in the Bayview neighborhood, authorities said.

The SWAT team, accompanied by a police dog, stormed the warehouse on Jennings Street near Wallace Avenue about 10 a.m. The suspect immediately surrendered after hearing the dog, telling officers he didn't want to be bitten, police said.

Four people who apparently were tending to the 1,000 marijuana plants in the warehouse had been released about 90 minutes earlier. Police would not say if the suspect had freed them or if officers had gone in to rescue them.

The incident began around 3:50 a.m. after police received reports of a robbery at the warehouse. When officers arrived, they saw three men outside wearing ski masks, police said.

The men ran, but police caught them within two blocks of the building, said police Sgt. Michael Andraychak, a police spokesman.

The names of the four arrested suspects weren't immediately released. At least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun, police said.

The police SWAT team and hostage negotiators surrounded the building for hours before moving in.
The warehouse has a city permit to grow marijuana for medical purposes and "appears to be in compliance with permitting requirements," Andraychak said.

A follow up to the story.

San Francisco police identified four men Thursday who were arrested in connection with a takeover robbery and hostage-taking at a city-licensed marijuana-growing operation in the Bayview.
Damien Thomas, 33, Joseph Nathaniel Hall, 30, and Daniel Contreras, 40, all San Francisco residents, were arrested outside a warehouse on Jennings Street near Wallace Avenue around 4 a.m. Wednesday after police responded to reports of a robbery there. When they arrived, they saw Thomas, Hall and Contreras outside wearing ski masks and chased them down, police said.
Four warehouse workers, apparently tending to the 1,000 marijuana plants inside, were being held hostage by fourth suspect William Carter, 22, of San Francisco, police said. They were released around 8:30 a.m.
The police SWAT team and hostage negotiators surrounded the warehouse for hours before moving in around 10 a.m. with a police dog. Carter, who was still inside, surrendered when he heard the dog, authorities said.
Officers recovered two handguns and several ski masks at the scene, police said.
All four suspects were booked on suspicion of burglary, robbery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and conspiracy.
Thomas was also arrested on suspicion of receiving or possessing stolen property, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. Carter was booked on suspicion of a probation violation and firearms charges. Hall was booked on suspicion of resisting a police officer.
The warehouse has a city permit to grow marijuana for medical purposes, said police spokesman Sgt. Mike Andraychak.
