What's the best natural home remedy to keep bugs away? I'll read some things on Google then read other pages that contradict. What do you suggest?

I just squeeze the bud worms. But technically they’re not bugs. What are you trying to prevent/kill?

Lavender and mint.... The oils.... Not directly on the plants

Actually they're caterpillar larve! Blah blah. My outdoor gets them.

Controlling Budworms:

Prevention: The best approach is to prevent budworms from infesting your plants in the first place, especially if you're growing outdoors.

Protective measures: Consider using protective barrier fabrics to prevent moths from laying eggs on your plants.

Beneficial insects: Introducing beneficial insects like parasitic wasps or praying mantises can help control budworm populations.

Neem oil: Neem oil can act as a deterrent and also disrupt the life cycle of some pests when used as a preventive spray or soil drench.

Treatment: If you detect a budworm infestation, act quickly.

Handpicking: Removing the budworms by hand, particularly in the morning or evening, is a simple and effective method for small infestations.

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt): Bt is a bacteria that can be sprayed on plants to kill budworms and is generally considered safe for use on cannabis.

Organic insecticides: Products containing spinosad, or a vinegar and soap mixture, can also be effective. Always follow instructions carefully and avoid spraying directly on flowers during the flowering stage if possible, as it may affect quality and taste.

Post-Harvest: After harvest, inspect your buds for any remaining budworms and remove any infected or damaged parts.

Pasted from AI - links dead Sorry!

It’s was an old snarky reply to “what’s the best remedy to keep bugs away?” (not a solution for bud worms). Kind of depends on the bug, wouldn’t you think. But yes the best way to prevent worms is not getting them in the first place. Your AI is more sarcastic than I. And a “bug” is technically a specific order of insects, so yet another (obtuse) tongue in cheek dig.

If you ain’t got bugs around, it’s unhealthy. In the estate section, no bugs or birds or rabbits or squirrels. Everything is sprayed to death, that ain’t natural. Keep your plants healthy, bugs won’t be a problem. You will get caterpillars , squish and go.

It would have served me better if you'd said your FOS and then point out why! This season I'll feed silca for the worms and spray neem for white fly. If that works I'll chuckle at what you said. AI produced a summary of the same thing many other articles reported. Are you one of those nose-in-air scientists?

Most of the time they are in your soil as far as indoor grows, sterilizing the soil isn't a bad idea if you don't have a ton of big pots. bake it in the oven. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Preventive insect management. ✌️

I grow in soil. For me, that means don’t over water. Keep the area clean. Lots of air flow. Sticky traps are never wrong !👊

DE is very helpful if you slip up ✌️

No I’m one of those people who doesn’t spray shit unless I know why. Nor will I be asking AI the cure for cancer. From my experience (with both) silica won’t do squat against bud worms. If they’re the target pest, use Bt.

Bt agree. I actually only spray for white fly. Thread caught my attention because last outdoor, had worms deep in the flowers. The culprit is moths. They are a big presence in my ecosystem. Control the moth, control the worm!!! Checked out your page, nice plants
