Best method for decarbing pot

Hey all , just wanted to ask for different opinions on decarbing your pot prior to processing for butter, oil, etc. The claims are that 250 is the ideal temp at 30-40 minutes. My question is at what temp does the process begin ? And exactly how long can you keep the herb at 250 without damaging the THC molecule rendering it useless? I use a decarb box made by the Magical Butter Machine people to process my herb. But they cannot answer my questions - anyone out there ?
