Depends on your grow site...clay, sandy, loamy, etc. And like OpTik said, if you add stuff like blood or bone meal to your hole you are going to interest some scavengers. If you don't know exactly what you're dealing with I'd take a soil sample from the site down to your local county extension office and get it tested for next to nothing. They can tell you what you are dealing with and if asked what you are growing tell them tomatoes in your backyard. I find that tomatoes and cannabis have some similar needs in soil.
