Best Soil To Start My Seeds???

Damn, well I went straight into the Fox Farm but did mix in 30% perlite... hopefully its not too hot for them.

Currently I have a 600w HPS light for them. Does a distance of 3.5 feet from the top of the pot sound like the right distance? I don't want to burn them as they sprout but I also don't want to keep it so far away they stretch out looking for light. (I fucked up and stretched out my seedlings last time with a small LED)

Watch them they stretch put it closer, ive had seedlings stretch so much I just spin them around and burry them and they grow just fine, hps is fine to veg under may not be ideal but gets the job done.
