You can rig you whole property up with X10 gear for hella cheap dude. It's super easy to install it all too. I've used several products from the site below and it works just fine. It's no high end system but it does exactly what you need it to do. For instance when some piece of shit walks into your driveway a chime will go off in the house, indoor and outdoor lights turn on, check the cameras from your phone, deal with the situation.
