Its not much different than the Ozarks! We do take care of the crime ourselves, and call the Sheriff afterwards. Living in one of the largest yet poorest counties in Mo. we only have the Sheriff and one Deputy. The U.S. forest service are our firefighters and we only have two ambulances that the druggies keep full from overdoses and pain pill seeking complaints.
That's how it's in iron county Michigan also. Sometimes only one sheriff's deputy for the entire county at night

Population for the whole county is like 2000

Yeah they have to be held accountable. But I must be getting old. I kind of enjoy watching Thugs and criminals that I’ve been praying on innocent people for years get the crap beat out of them! The guy has about 15 serious charges against him and he’s out on bail. L O L
No questions about him being a bad guy in my mind. He's a criminal.

But due process matters. It's mandatory. It's called due process.. and when I was a healthcare provider I didn't beat down the combative patient... That's a crime

I got backup and took care of it by the established protocol

Our pop. is 6000. We sure don’t live here for the convenience. We live here for the peace and beauty. Another thing that makes our area unique voted on over a hundred years ago…no outside chain businesses. Every business in our town is family owned. A dollar store moved into the area about five years ago. They were forced to buy land etc outside of the city limits. Hard headed resilient people. My kind of folks. 😊

I've spent a little time in the Ozarks. Lived in Clinton Mo for some years

KC for many on and off. Caught a few spoonbill over the years. Damn things are the best fishing ever. Both to catch and especially eating.

I guess if yellow jackets are considered hornets which they kind of are, also referred to as, meat bees around here. They nest in the ground but love overripe and rotting peaches. Matter of fact they seem to love just about anything edible. They are the scourge of picnics and outdoor get together’s. You might have to share your hamburger or hotdog or whatever with them. But they are fairly even tempered As long as you don’t fuck with their nest. I’ve seen more than a few people take a swig off their kind of beer and get quite a surprise.

About 40 years ago I was skinning A small deer in the middle of summer. Oops! Come on! I was starving! Had it hung from the hind legs and it was peeling the skin down, and the yellow jackets showed up. Hundreds of them. But they should only interested themselves in the exposed part of the carcass and went to work on it. Didn’t have much choice but to keep peeling and finish the job. Dumped the head and guts on the ground. I don’t remember how but somehow I got that carcass away from them and then they concentrated on the guts and the hide on the ground. Not one sting! Never even felt threatened by them! Just moved kind of slow during the job and showed them some respect and they did the same for me! People get stung when they freak out and attack them or mistakenly molest them in some fashion.

I have peach trees and I have hornets! I have been looking for their nests for some time. Do they like to nest in peach trees?
Yeah πŸ€£πŸ‘ underneath them in the center part...

So you usually don't notice until you get under it. But I think it's worse in an orchard of them

Fear pheromones brother... They smell it and attack...

If you ever have a fear response it's time to get outta there

I've literally seen peaches covered with so many hornets the peaches were covered entirely. They will eat it to the pits

Hornets gotta eat also! I don’t have a problem with sharing! L O L! The one bad thing about them is, unlike honeybees, they can sting you repeatedly! So when they get underneath your clothing it can be a pretty comical affair doing the yellow jacket jig and discarding all of your clothes! Then seeing How many times you have been dotted! L O L!

I've been attacked by fire ants once.... Hundreds of them crawling out of a railroad tie I picked up... Dropped it on the other guy but he let it go....

Anyhow I stripped down to my underwear 🩲 in about ten seconds... And required gentamicin for two weeks... It was pretty scary.

No doubt! I was down in Perris California and one, just one crawled up my pants and stung me or bit me. Felt like somebody was putting a cigarette out on my leg! L O L! The next day I was standing out in the bush smoking a cig and I noticed all of these ants crawling up my shoes and up my leg. I panicked like a motherfucker And stripped down in record time! Turns out they were just regular ants But after that run in with one fire ant I was ant shy For quite some time! Those fire ants Are not to be trifled with! Can land you in the hospital as you well know!

You gotta be careful with those bald face hornets. If you piss one off they spray you with a pheromone that makes the rest of his buddies attack you! Don’t ask how I knowπŸ™„

Yeah πŸ‘ my WBC count was like 2000 and they said 2200 was the threshold so I dodged being admitted probably bye hours...

All in two days, young and fit. Just out of the military
