Camp Fire 2018 took the lives of 85 people. Almost lost my wife that day, she was working at the hospital there and was evacuating patients and left with a patient in her car. One of the worst days of my life (worst day of A LOT of peoples lives) Hope you were far away from that shit Gal! : )

We had a drunk driver go off of our canyon in the Kern River Valley yesterday and his car exploded on impact so now we have an awesome fire rolling through the wilderness towards us. These fires are everywhere this year.

I Used to backpack out of mineral King! Caught native goldens out of the headwaters of the Kern! That are some bad ass country!

Thats how the fuckin park fire started! And on top of that there was a separate car fire in another part of the same park!!! (This has not been said as fact, I only say a few facebook pictures of said event) but what the hell!?!?!?! Hope you are well and safe!!✌️

Stay safe over there fellas bushfire risk is no joke they move fast if u think u have enough time to outrun 1 think again clear the gutters mow the lawns keep dry debri to a minimum and just hope Australia known for its fires but yea I’ve seen that Paradise documentary I think on Netflix Fkn poor buggers.

How is it up at Mineral King? I've been up here for 3 years and haven't gone up there yet. Furthest north I've ventured was Lower Peppermint.

The Erskine Fire literally TORE through here with 45 MPH winds a year or so before I got here. My neighbors said people couldn't get out of the way fast enough.

I made the mistake of buying firewood from some guy on the side of the road that ended up being eucalyptus and man the smoke that stuff puts off is unreal.

I firestorm blew through gatlinburg several years ago. Burned like 1/3 of the town down in like an hour, killed a bunch of people, went down the faces of the mountains damn near up to clingman's dome at newfound gap. The highest point east of the Mississippi River. Burned down some of the last remaining old growth forest left outside the PNW in the entire contiguous 48.


Was started by a couple teenagers who watched a smokey the bear presentation in town, then thought it would be funny to split up from their group and sneakily toss an entire lit match pack off a cliff into the forest. Something to that effect.

They got tried as adults 🤙


Edit: Nope charges were dropped because winds knocked down some powerlines too apparently. Those kids were all over social media bragging about causing it at the time. And they really did throw the lit pack of matches off the cliffs right at the chimney mountains too. Thats some crap, the only reasons the winds got so bad was the heat differential created by the fires in the gorges. My family was there lol.

Yeah, I googled that when you mentioned that earlier! Gnarly! You just don’t expect it in a lush state like Tennessee! Just goes to show you can never be too careful!
