OK- so I want someone to simplfy a breeding lesson for me bein i live in a state where you could go to jail for just growing a plant. (Stop an give that a moment of though you could go to jail for planting and growing a flower - wow ) OK back to my thread I have a skunk kush or a white widow that are possible male - i have several females super lemon haze - lemon skunk - t. dream - mango- and two strains that are unknown plus a mawi but lets rule her out cause she takes to friggin long - in a perfect world the skunk kush would be male as i feel that is better for breeding than ww - ok well i have a cabinet that will hold two plants trained nicely - all of these are currently vegging and have been for awhile as i am growing from there clones. I would like someone to give me step by step directions on crossing say the s.kush with the t.dream to make seeds - just a KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID WAY -to get my first seeds grown myself - i have time so if you feel like helping me out be as detailed as possible, i know this is not the way to get a stable strain but i cant pop 100 beans for a keeper and i just wanna seed my first plant without all the tecknical bull........thanks to anyone who takes the time.........peace

google works good....haha lol
dont u hate when people say that?
Im no breeder but... i kno u wanna grow a male and a female, since ur making seeds and only using 2 plant u grow em together all the way thru( veg and flower) when u flip em to flower ur gonna wanna keep an eye on the pollen sacks(male) and when they start opening make sure the pollen gets onto the buds/pistils(female). u can shake the male plant right over the female to get the pollen all over her . OR u can collect the pollen from the pollen sacks on the male store it in something and u can use a lil paint brush to dust the female flowers(buds) with the pollen from the male. then just grow em and harvest time u will have buds with seeds that will be a cross of the mother and father plants....pretty cool huh, im sure i missed something but basicaly thats it in a nutshell...very basic version(my version)lol
like i said im no breeder but i noticed not one person has replied so far so i figured i would tell u what i kno and maybe u learned something maybe not. but i tried ...i kno there are tons of breeders on this site so hopefully one will see ur post and send u in the right direction or something..
ok broski
peace

After selecting the male I hit indicas at the 3.5 to 4.5 week mark and sativas at 4 to 5 week point. Seeds need 3 to 6 weeks to develop fully, I prefer to paint a couple bottom branches with pollen over open pollinating, this gives me some beans to play with and some killer 90% to 95% sinsemilla lol.

I would prefer to do exactly that - so i will isolate the male in its own cabinet when and how do i collect the pollen - i took pollen sacks off of a male plant before and put them in a jar but all they really did was turn the jar yellow on the bottom. Did i not collect enough sacks or did i do something wrong. pardon my ignorance but that is why i put these questions up here cause you guys/gals are my guide as trial and error is really not to safe around these parts....... i was cuffed in front of my house for an 80 dollar ticket - which mind you i had payed all ready but was not reported as paid from a dif township - all in front of my crying child........its all about the mighty dollar in these parts you should sit in the court one day and see how it rolls in... all day everyday - last time i was there a dude was caught with a pipe in his car 1000$ fine - 6 months licence susp....sorry about rant.....

I'm far fro being an actual breeder but it's all about the selection process for desired traits such as high , stability, and formation etc. Ive made seeds before pollen chucking is very easy. Working multiples generations to isolate a trait and somewhat stabilize a strain requires a lot more knowledge and experience that I don't have. Research dj short, Neville, shanti baba, chimera for extensive knowledge from experts.

that is the opposite of what i want to do now... i dont want to pop 100 seeds for a stable pheno - i just want simple way step by step to collect pollen from a male - when and exactly how and i know from reading how to apply pollen bags to my growing females my problems is how to collect and when and how to collect pollen hens (Breeding for dummy's) but no one seems interested in helping - ill figure it out as i allways do - first grow was a smashing sucess with very little knowledge - i only have had one total loss and that was cause of vacation - look at my lemon skunk cola above - i have a green thumb and love this - peace :ninja

best method i've found for collecting pollen is this....
when your male is about ready to drop, cut the top off him and place him into a dixi cup with ph'd water and a notch cut out of one side of the lip...so he is held off to one side. put him near a window because he will only need a little light to finish what he has to do. place a paper plate under the flowers and just wait till he drops. scrape up all the pollen with a razor and you're good to go. now if you have a seperate tent for males, you don't need to go this route. this is the easiest way i've found to collect pollen.

now, as far as pollinating your selected ladies, this is again just my method.
when my ladies are ready...about 2-3 wks in depending on variety...you want to see a good amount of pistils because that's what will be pollinated...
i shut off all my fans in the room around the time the lights will be going out. pollinate each branch i want with a q-tip and label each so i don't forget. let them sit at night without fans running for 12 hrs. some peeps say 24, but 12 has always worked for me. before your lights come on, go in and spray with ph'd water all of the plants so any rogue pollen is destroyed. once saturated, turn on your fans and let the ladies dry before turning on your hid. once dried, light goes on and your back to normal. seeds need 4-6 wks to fully mature.
just how i do it. hope this helps.

Exactly the kind of advice i was looking for my only question would be do you after pollenating a limb apply a bag or is this method for pollenating the entire plant without having a seperate cabinet - as i have a small cabinet that will hold one nice size plant or two trained plants ...,. peace karma your way.................

i don't use a bag for pollination. i'm very careful when i pollinate the selected lower branch/branches. after they have sat for 12 hrs, you spray them down. once dried, it's business as usual. like i said, this method has worked for me time and time again. 90% smokable product with 1-2 branches full of seeds. never had a problem. just be careful when you use your q-tip. move very slowly and make sure you get pollen all over the pistils, twisting the q-tip as necessary, but be VERY careful. good luck and breed on brotha!
btw, you want your pollinated branches to get a good amount of light so the seeds turn out well.

sweet et - from what i can gather the only other thing i have left to ask , is does this extended dark period affect your plants...(herm) i will asume that its about another two - three hours for the saterated plants to dry - so thats 15 hrs of darkness - and im pretty sure that wont hurt... thanks again ill let you know how it turns out .. gonna have to be next run as the three im running now are day 52 , 45 , and 16 for a mawi but im currently pollenless -or i would hit the mawi tonight but next run in about two weeks going sog with several varity's and three could be male..........but i better get started with the male -after inducing flowering how long before male sacks should be cut and how long do they develope - i have had extremely good luck with reg seeds and have only had one male burmess on my indoor grows and that has been about 1 out of 12 flowered plant's in set of three. my first outdoor grow was this year and i planted in to shady of spot and only three females survived - and all them girls were pollenated from a late blooming male but that will not happen this year as i am much more educated now about the great out doors - and thanks for taking the time - much appreciated bro

males usually show and drop pollen rather quickly...in the first few weeks, so the seeds have time to mature. for me, i flip my males and in about 2 wks they are ready to be cut down and put into beer cups. from that point it takes about another week or so for them to drop the pollen i need. then i discard em. just make sure to get those dudes out of your room before they open up...
as for the issue of extending the night for them to dry out, i have not had a problem...but i have flouro's that can give em some light until the hps is ready to turn on. if they're not dry, you will end up scalding the leaves that are still wet. a couple hrs of extra darkness should not bother em too much...

cool - gonna start to flip my possible males in about two weeks, gotta skunk kush (which i hope in male ) and a white widow that could plus two unknown strains but they are two young. In a perfect world the skunk kush would be male and i can cross that with my tang dream -i think that sounds about the most intriging of the next harvest, has this been done by anyone yet - TDK - I know this is notthe way to stablize a strain but its a good way to get my feet wet IMHO...... PEACE ,........and thanks again ET - i am good now

well today is only day 12 - so im put him back and will keep a close eye..... wont let me karma you again..... but thanks bro . now when i actually collect the pollen from the plate and follow your instructions with the qtip method - you stated that it takes 4-6 weeks for seeds to develope - so should i pollen when im six weeks out or they need at least that but longer is ok or try to time it with the six week window exactly.... sorry if i'm being a pain .........

i think the 6 week window mark is at the high end for the seeds to develop.

you can polinate the buds as soon as pistils start appearing out of the calyx's. This could be from the end of week 2 right up until maybe the start of the 5th week. The later you wait the more seed you could possibly get just due to the larger amount of pistils.

Im jus starting to play around with pollen chucking and im pollinating between week 3-4.

You could pollinate a couple times(i did) over the period of a week to ensure you get good pollination rates as well.

personally im goin to experiment and see how late into the bloom cycle i can go and still get fertile seed, just so i can maximize my seed yield as im only goin to do lower branches with diff males n then grow out to see whats what.

good luck and im sure your prolly as excited as i am!!
