Hardcore inbreeding.

Cannabis has had astonishing amounts of breeding work over the last 30 years. Think of how many millions of seeds have been planted. It's truly amazing that we can produce plants with 1/4 maybe even 1/3 of it's dry weight being active compounds.

To think from landrace genetics a good breeder may select through thousands of plants to get to where he wants before releasing his seeds. Hundreds of thousands of seeds go through a selection process assuming they're not discarded or the genetics aren't preserved for further inspection.

I read an article which is found in the breeders section by DJ Short's on cataloging his plants for breeding. Gene/chromosome manipulation may even come into play. He says he suspects his thai plants may have had a colchicine treatment (a chemical found in a type of lilly that induces chromosome doubling in plants).
