Two days ago, I took the photo of this bud (1st photo). I photographed so I could zoom in to see the terpines. I also looked at it through a loupe.

Today is the photo on the right. The top of the bud is completely dried up and dead. This is seriously a 2-day span.

Any guesses what might have happened? I mention the loupe because I wonder if it acted like a magnifying glass in the sunlight and somehow burned it.

And I suppose while I'm still here, I might get your opinions based on the "before" photo. I've been guessing I'm about 7-14 days from harvest. Can anyone tell from the photo if they concur? This past week, they've gotten very aromatic, which I've read is also a sign of peak. Between this dead bud and our weather extremes going from 95 during the day down to 40 at night, I'm wondering if it's time to just haul it all in.

This is an outdoor grow of Blue Dream. I have two plants. One was started indoors from seed, this one photographed was purchased as a clone from a dispensary. Both starts were planted outdoors around Memorial Day. So both are at about 150 days outdoors, if that matters. (They are not autoflower).

TIA for any insights or suggestions! I always appreciate the folks on these forums!

Here's another photo of the same plant, as an FYI. I'm feeling I'm getting close?

Hmm have you looked for bud worm/caterpillars? That's bud rot i don't think you fried it.
I've been spraying with Monterey Bt. I haven't had issues with caterpillars this year, but I have in the past. That's definitely a possibility, though in my experience, they infect the middle of a bud, not the tips like this. It's weird!

it rots from the inside out,

Looks like bud rot. Cut all the brown stuff off and throw away. Very common in outdoor grows this time of year. It can be caused by any moisture trapped in the buds, not necessarily cattys. Just keep a close eye on it and cut away any rot as soon as it shows up and you should still get a good harvest. Nice looking plant.

Harvest ready or not quite yet? New to this.
