First time grower here so I need some advice in regards to curing. Let me break it down:

I had to harvest about 2 weeks early because I noticed signs of bud rot on a few bud sites & fellow growers on this platform confirmed it. I then removed the few infected areas & inspected all buds by opening them up & using a loupe when I was doing a wet trim. My dry lasted for a total of 7 days & I began to start getting the snapping noise on a few stems however they did not snap completely in half but did make the "snapping" noise if that makes sense. To be extra safe, I then cut them up into smaller buds, did a dry trim as if they were ready to go into jars & then still left them on a dry rack for another 12 hours. I then put them into glass jars with mini hygrometers & BOVEDA 58% HR packs for about 24 Hours. The Humidity readings stayed between 57% - 60% however they still feel moist or not sure whether they are just sticky.

I got paranoid & started to think that maybe this is the mold/budrot starting again so I removed them today & put them back on dry racks to ensure most of the moisture is gone & will jar them again maybe in the next 6 hours.

Was this the right move or should they just stay in jars? More importantly could this be because of the BUDROT problem I had before harvest & is my FIRST EVER GROW now going to be a waste that would have to be thrown away like I did with the few infected buds. If they do need to be trashed then this feels even worse than a heartbreak :(

My white widow 2 months in the jar feels oily when squeezed. Pull a small bud apart and rub it on white paper. If it is clear it's water. If it's a brown smear that smells wonderful it's an oily bud.
If you don't want that send it to me.
If you had a legit zeroed hygrometer in the jar at 60% and it was not rising by the hour you have a dry bud. Put the packs in and cure.

Honestly I like my pot fresh dried anyways. I had no clue the smoothness and taste of fresh dried as you do not get that at the dispensary.

I think you want to throw some bud in the jar with a hygrometer or preferably two, give it a good 12 hours or more and see what the humidity reading is! If it’s too high, put it back out to dry some more! And repeat! When you get it to stay down around 60 after 24 hours, then you throw the humidity pack in! That would be my guess! I don’t use the packs! Yeah, you don’t want to jar it up too wet! Better to err on the dry side! Good luck!

You sure there not growing mold ? I've put mine in brown grocery paper bags for a day
I really hope I don't as this is all new to me. From the research I did, I think I caught it a bit early & that's why I chose to harvest before losing the entire crop. I am not really getting a good store bought aroma while on the other hand there is no hay smell or foul odour so I am so confused lol.

I had them in glass jars for I think just more than 24 hours & the humidity levels never exceeded 60% in fact they range between the 3 jars at 57%-60%
With that being said, should I just go ahead and put them back into they jars with the HR Packs?

As long as you trust the meters, I don’t see where you have much of a choice! Coincidentally, I opened up a jar of Bigfoot glue last night that had been sitting unopened for 18 months! Harvested in 23! It was still moist and hadn’t molded! Had oxidized a little! But I was surprised at how moist it still was!

I have 3 separate meters in the 3 jars & they all are within that HR range so fingers crossed they will turn out all good. Literally just put them back into their jars & will monitor them. I think I am just paranoid because of the mould problem I had before harvest & almost everyone I spoke to about it said that the ENITRE harvest was going to be trashed.

18 months is crazy! I respect your ability to have that much patience & to not be tempted to spark it up haha.

Yeah, keep your eyes peeled! I’ve got stuff laying around in Grove bags and jars from the harvest of 22! Obviously, I grow it a lot faster than I use it! It’s fun to take a trip down memory lane though every once in a while! This stuff will last a long time if taken care of!😁
