I had to remove it cuz a couple of these hornworms will devour a plant in days....I just pluck it off and toss it in the woods.Look at all those parasitic wasp that will hatch soon. Only hornworms I don't remove.
When I first started gardening years ago and found one, I cut my entire tomato plant down and wouldn't eat any of the tomatoes. I knew the little eggs were some type of wasp, but interestingly though, what I didn't know was that the eggs are actually feeding inside the skin of the worm. Def wierd.
The whole interplay of insects and their environment is fascinating. Which is why I try to avoid spraying.Big fan of parasitic wasp. They kill my worst garden pest.
