A guy I work with thought it was dead, he said look at it's eyes, got close, then he jumped 2 feet in the air. Still alive.Look at those eyes! I wonder If it is getting ready to molt.
Thats an impressive creature!Hey @Poekie
Eastern Hognose snake.
Sun tanning I guess, almost stepped on it 2 days in a row at work. It likes to hide under the planks at the railroad crossing.
Wow!

Brought it home as we have them here and about 10 years go my wife and cats found a young one about a foot long on the hallway. I released both in the yard. Love having them as they help with mice/rats as we are out of the city. We've got half an acre, neighbor across the street has 4 and an aquifer under the property so other than the house they can't build so a lot of open space. We see these every spring

Both pics are our neighbors yard. Before I got old and going to bed at 8-9pm I'd hear the coyotes howl, usually around midnight and knew it was time to go to bed.
Caught this Gopher snake

at a client's who has 7 kids and home schools. All but the baby got to touch this one. I let it go back in their yard. They've got at least an acre.
This one I found in the pool after draining for the winter. Another King snake.

Albizia Julibrussin aka Mimosa Tree aka Persian Silk Tree.
Beautiful sight when flowering.
And apart from being beautiful, I just read the bark and flowers have been used for hundreds of years to cure injuries and as a sedative for anxiety and insomnia.I love Mimosa trees lots around our town there just beautiful
