Camo Toad on bed rock almost squished em.

Went out this morning to spray fungicide while the dew was still on the plants and found this.
It was hanging from a dead leaf I picked off and didn't move.
50 degrees this morning, it was cold and wet.
Warmed up, dried off and flew away.

It’s very far away! Takes about half and a day. To get there! If we travel by my, dragonfly! Jimi

The old badger has come back at night but this time i was better prepared.

Layers of chicken wire, sticks and stones, metal bars, axes and shovels i put around the plants and it helped.

Looks horrible but who cares.

He didnt even touch the cannabis plants this time.
Went straight for the veggies that only have very light protection and killed a melon and some beans while making holes but thats ok.

I won this round, now its 2-1 for the badger and the game continues.

Yes, outside growing is a challenge.
Massive ant nests, spider mites and the badger have been my biggest issues this season.

So far only 7 caterpillars which is (almost) nothing compared to other years.
No idea why there are so few, normally caterpillars are the main problem out here.

There here in my blueberry muffin plants. I'm finding less of them cause i got back on track spraying BT and i hunt them mofo's down and stab them with my toothpick sword. All different colors and size to them.

This was a couple days ago

These two, two different species were just a few inches apart

for a couple days. I figured the larger was stalking the smaller. Not sure what happened but both were gone as of yesterday.

Not sure which of the several invasive species the large one is

as we have several that were imported to combat agricultural bugs. Btw, while looking cool and on occasion snaging a harmful bug I understand they really aren't that good at keeping our plants safe.

Looks like our native species with that head shape. Top picture looks like the female (green one, short wings, fat abdomen) and the long skinny brown one looks like the male. They could've mated and parted ways if everyone made it out alive. Here's my native pair from a couple weeks ago.

Today when i came home i heard my neighbours boy sheep screaming, went to take a look and sure, somehow he got in my garden.

Must have fallen or jumped from the wall above, about 4 meters high, and couldnt get out of the fenced garden.
So, after the badger some more mammal damage.

1 small plant broken, another was pushed around and has some leaves eaten and sheep hairs on it.

But he ate the pretty flowers i had,
especially the marigold, nothing left.

Anyway, good news is still no caterpillars except the 7 i found so far.
Maybe the badger ate them lol.

That big one was maybe a female and she got what she wanted from the smaller male then..............she ate him 🤣
