SEATTLE -- The owners of medical marijuana dispensaries in North Seattle are on the lookout after a rash of attempted burglaries.

Surveillance video recently caught five people as they attempted to break into Seattle Quality Collective. The video clearly shows one person breaking out a window at the dispensary.

But the thieves didn't get inside. First they looked it over and then walked away. Then they came back and did some damage to the building.

The burglars took off running when a security guard shined a light on them.

"It's been very common as of lately," said Kenneth Adams of Quality Collective.

It's a troubling pattern seen at several medical marijuana dispensaries in north Seattle.

"It's one of those things where everyone thinks we're an easy target (because) we've got a bunch of stuff sitting out. And in reality you're going to come in and get $20 of stuff that's sitting on the counter -- that's a sample," Adams said.

The attempted robbers didn't get very far into the building because of the levels of security at the dispensary. But each time someone attempts to break in they do damage, which the business owners are forced to fix.

"It's an annoyance and it's just something where it's tough being a small business owner," Adams said.

Police are investigating the crimes and asking anyone with information to contact them.
