C02 Tank purchased from Beverage place

The cost is about 1/3 less to purchase a C02 tank from a beverage place (and you can get pretty cheap regulators there too) than from my local hydro store. Like the people there, but they ain't getting rich, although the owner is. What are the shortcomings, if any?

None, as long as it's been inspected in the past 5 years (I think that's the timeline, but double check that).

If they sold you a tank that hasn't been inspected in five years, you're gonna have to pay another $40 to get it inspected before it can be filled.

FWIW, craigslist is the best place to find tanks, IMO - got three 20 #ers for $125, and two were already filled - there's always a restaurant/welding person selling them on there.
