(BTU x total hr)/ old SEER rating x (center per kwh/1000)

(24,000x720)/13seer x (.2/1000) = 265 a month= 3,190 a year to run
(24,000x720) /26 x (.2/1000) = 132 a month= 1,584 a year to run save 1,606 a yr

they dont make 26 seer two ton ac's, only 12,000btu ones but you can buy two for the savings and that way if once brakes you have a backup

lets see how much you can save on a 5 ton

60000x720/13 x.0002= 664 a month= 7968

60000x720/26 x .0002= 332 a month = 3987

save 3,981 a year

5 ton cost 5,000 , 5 1ton cost 7500= extra cost 2500
3981-2500= 1481 savings the first year then almost 4000 a year after that

and you have 5 different sites for air handlers, and if one breaks you can unplug 3 lights instead of watching you whole crop cook

Plus you get tax breaks with higher seer. I just bought an 24K inverter LG unit for my nursery. That got me thinking about my 5 ton. I think now looking back I would have preferred a 5 ton multi zone rather then 1 air handler. I would have had to bought 3 line sets at 100' apiece though.
I do not think though I would want 3 24K compressors running outside to replace my 5 ton unit. It may be stupid but I wonder what neighbors think having 3 units running at 2 in the morning in Dec. JK

haha true, but a small privacy fence could keep cover, and the minisplits are so quiet you have to be standing next to them, and know there are on to hear them. It would suck to have them all put in but Im sure you can get a deal or figure out how to do if after watching the guy install the first one
