Seamaiden, I seen crushed walnut shells at the pet store and thought of using them as aeration in the mix, have you used them?

The section I used char in in my outdoor gardens did better than all others,I tried three different mixes.

No crushed walnuts because I'm able to find rice hulls. But I see *no* reason not to use the walnut hulls. What amount or percentage of char did you use?

I saw a small bag of biochar in a food coop the other day with a $23 price tag on it.
It was the size of a personal bag of chips!
$23?
Is this crystal power, or memory of water like magic?

That's stupid. There's no reason for it to be that expensive, outside the fact that if people weren't buyin' it, they wouldn't be sellin' it.

I'd say about 5% or so,very little.Used it from the fire pit, didn't crush it either, experiment so to speak. Now I want to use it everywhere.

I stopped using perlite,I only use rice hulls now.Going to throw out the rest. The rice hulls work wayyyyy better, and smell real good too.

I've got a bunch of oak and manzanita sticks that I would *really* like to make into char, but I think they'd require something like a retort and there's just no way I can ask my poor husband to tackle such a thing.

Suggestions? This pile is almost as tall as I am and at least 4' deep and 8'-10' long. I believe we may be able to do open burns for a couple of weeks more locally, but on a daily basis I don't know. Is there something that someone who can't lift more than 20lbs at a time could make... relatively easily...??

Do little batches in a hibachi grill SM??

Great input , very helpful. Thank you. This is only my second batch of organic soil so it is all still a learning experience. Each grow gives me an opportunity to work on new and better methods. Ive read all the soil threads but my constant war on fungus gnats makes me wary those lil bastards will hit me like they did a few grows ago. I'll stir the soil daily. Keep it covered and keep it moist with liquid karma. It should be ready pretty soon. Peace

Hey bro botanicare uses heavey synthetic salts in all of there product which is very detrimental to your microlife. There are only a few products from the Organicare line that are safe for TLO growing. They are only semi organic they are more so for soup style organic growing with liquid nutes. You really have to watch anything liquid in organic growing because 99% of marketed products are only pseudo organic. Fire looking chronic tho bro. Respect 2 them tuff nuggets.

Too hot and too open. I need to cause pyrolysis. Check this out, I bought a metal barrel last week, need to find another to fit inside it or figure out another way to make a kiln.

Dude is pretty brilliant, he's also got plans for making use of waste/grey water.

Once again another killer post sea. Shit why can't I find a cannabis educated female that knows as much as you do. They just don't seem to make them like you sea. You gotta have a million offspring to help better the female cannabis population.

My womb would only accept the Y-bearing spermatazoa and now it's just too late. So much fer that!
