Can you top side branches?

Hello, I'm on my second year of growing and last year I only topped the the main stem and then then the ones that grew out after.

It looks like the sides branches have the capability of splitting into two branches aswell. I was just curious if anyone has ever tried this and if it's effective at all or just a waste of the plants energy. Thanks!

Yes you can top side branches

just LST the 2 new tops away from each other toward the outer edge and you'll have a bush
