Has anyone else here done high school science? Im mostly self taught so have no real experience and not sure if I can be much help. i guess Id like to know is it true that volatiles have a synergistic effect? Im just real wary of thinking that..i mean thats just totally contrary to my understanding but Im not an expert. Isn’t this a spinoff myth from a spinoff myth than someone saying years ago some cannabinoids can offset each other so like synergistically in that sense. I just did a pubmed search and found nothing but plenty on forums.

Google or Google scholar Israel and cannibinoids and you can YouTube cannibinoids and see what their talking about

Correct me if I'm wrong , after reading a little bit, you are asking if it is true or not true that oils evaporate that may have an impact on the total effects of the oil profile?

If that is what your asking I believe that's true and a quick search showed the synergistic factor true but I have not found the volatile part which is that if certain oils evaporate s it changes the effects....if I'm not mistaken that video i posted above talks about the change from volatility but effects are subjective to the partaker of said oil due to our individual endocannabinoid systems.....
I'm no science guy just try to understand what I can but this is all new to the world except Israel and a few other places where cannabis research is allowed

I believe certain steps in CURING process preserve said volatiles and may change them from a volatile state to an nonvolatile state

I believe he's asking if there is truth to the belief that volatiles have a synergistic effect with cannabinoids to effect potency. There is some evidence of this, here's a link to one paper on the topic.

I'm not sure I've read enough on the subject to convince me either way. It's a broad subject to try to pigeon-hole. Perhaps some volatiles do synergize with cannabinoids, but with so many in both chemical classes, there needs to be more research done to determine exactly which ones synergize with each other. On the same token, if synergisms are possible, then antagonisms are too.

Yup for example: some cannabis can suppress a hyperactive immune system to help it rest when the hyperactivity is unnecessary and
Some cannabis can activate hyperactive immune system when it is needed......amazing plant

As far as the synergistic effect I believe its true on many levels one very simple level is when a crack open the jar and take a whiff :nailbiting: :D and it gets me smile'n then I light it and smell the inscence:) it's working then I inhale and taste the same smells.....by the end of the joint if the taste is still their that gets me excited and usually by that time I'm plenty high but still smoke out of curiousity and the accumulitive effects of the combination of everything happening in harmony.....

As far as the antagonistic effects, personally with my own experience, i can enjoy a potent flower that doesn't appeal to my other senses and I usually conserve well with those so I'm happy but if it's not appealing any common 5 senses and it's not fullfilling my receptors demand I get a lil dissappointed but my nose stops running I might still get the munchies and even get cottonmouth....
I'm thinking synergism and antoginism may be influenced a bit by power of suggestion but not trumped by it

yep it be true.

its why you have some bubble heads that turn down the majority of other concentrates not based on the butane but rather the feel of the ride.

also why you have some people say their tolerance going up from shatter imo in addition to the ease of injestion but also from the lack of compounds in concentrates thats over purged .... missing compounds being the problem.

straying from the original setup of compounds from the strain is basically in itself a different strain. these compounds make the strain and set it apart from different phenos or cuts.

without them its basically a high with no depth. bland. which is like a poorly done co2 oil or an over purged shatter.

yeah it gets you high... but its nothing remotely close to the flower it was made from. its no longer special.

but thats like marinol same problem... cannabis is more than thc,cbd,etc and more than terps and whatever other shits in it.

also these compounds and the ratios of these compounds are besides the growth factors essentially the strain. this combination is what allows the user differation in perceptions of cannabis from strain to strain or indica to sativa

Thanks for the interest in my thread! Im not fazed about a poll. One can be put in but i dont mind either way. Im more interested in hearing discussion. Also more interested in actual physiological/chemical synergisms not so much the power of the mind type stuff. Though Im sure that factors into experience too.

Certainly seem like its not just a myth or case of chinese whispers..but still not sure i understand how this works.
