It's a looong story. I'll summarize. Bro in law Northern Humboldt has been growing this since the mid-late nineties. All he will grow. He passed me the cut with the tightest restrictions. Had never heard it called anything but OG Kush since he started growing it.
I assumed it was the Tahoe.. Mr. Dank (Who's smoked and/or seen just about all the OG cuts) initially looked at it and thought it was tahoe. Once he smoked it he realized it was much better than the tahoe. I've grown SFV, this one, and I have the Legend OG. After talking to my bro in law again (who is far, far away from the online scene) he was still insisting this cut was around way before the "named" cuts were around.
Soulie claimed in his thread that the Legend was the closest thing if not the Original OG. Running this OG and the Legend side by side, it's incredibly hard to tell the difference. I know almost any cut of OG will grow similar when dialed but this goes beyond that. The difference in the two cuts is not apparent until smoked. The Legend has a bit different taste. Just enough to notice.
So... After having it examined and smoked by Mr. Dank who's had em all (or almost) taking the history of the cut into account and then comparing the quality.. It beats out even the Legend cut... I started calling it the original. Not because I want to claim I have the original but mainly for keeping track of it. I had it labeled tahoe for a long time until Mr. Dank proved it wrong. Now it goes by "the original" around here. Best OG I've ever, ever come across.

I got a buddy who's offered me the RPK cut, is that the one you are showing in those last pics? I haven't bothered cuz I have the LVPK, plus I'm kinda stocked on purple indicas. Is the RPK worth it to run as far as high or yield? Kinda bored with kush highs lately. Need more haze in my life!
