Cree has inexpensive 40 and 60 watt bulbs on sale at Home Despot. They are 3500 and 5000k spectrum.

Can these be used for plant growth? Theyre very inexpensive and simple... thoughts?

(They're bright as fuuuuuuuuuuck)

No, thats 50-60W of LED power. 600W would be if you used 6 100W incans ;)
If you're running a 8K vert room you should look into something more serious or DIY with LEDs if you're looking for a cheaper version.

Pretty much the same story. Get some 5000K ones like 10 and put a plant under. See how it works.

10? Man, these bulbs outperform a 40w actual CFl and way less heat. I use 3 per 2 sq foot

What bulbs exactly are you using/comparing? I'm really curious what even 10W LED outperforms a 40W CFL (not 40W substitute but actuall power)

Did a little digging and came across some data about those bulbs and if those are actually the same bulbs were talking about - 660W A19?, then those run at 13.5W for TW verion with low lumionus flux at only 800lm (60lm/W)
