I move my buds from the drying tent to 1-pound grove bags. They sit in the bags for 4 to 6 weeks and then I put them in jars. I have a very dark and secure place for the bags. I drilled holes in the lids of the jars to fit hygrometers so I can see how they're doing. The jars are stored in the same dark space as the bags. So far, this works well for me, but I only grow a few plants at a time.

I don't understand why we are moving away from the classic sealed jar ? Anything that preserves properly would have to be manually burped the grove bags are trash they have half the shelf life and dry out bud long term. Jars already solved the storing issues long ago, Nothing works better !!!

After using the grove bags, I like them, but longevity sucks. This run I tried curing in bag, then swit8some to jar. I think I like this better, my usually 7 day dry, 4 to 6 weeks in bag, then into jars for long term. I was looking at a mason jar vaccum that I might pick up as well🤷‍♂️

I haven't jumped all the way back to mason jars, yet. Probably end up doing the same as 2water. But am surprised they really hold the humidity as advertised, and that's without the heat sealing. I stuffed the bags I have left into a wine cooler (used found online for cheap) and when I pull them out to grab a few nugs , the humidity is in check. So back on the fence with these.
It's nothing new really, the old fashioned way was turkey bags. They still sell turkey bags at a few hydro stores near me ..😂

I'm not sure all of us are moving away from jars for long-term storage. I'm not. I use Grove bags for 4 to 6 weeks between the drying tent and sealed jars.

Grove bags keep the buds within a specific humidity range. The ones I use have a range of 58% to 62%. Sealed jars can't do that. Go to the Grove website or Amazon page for a better description of what they're designed to do. Basically, it has to do with the type of material used, which is probably why they're somewhat expensive.

I've never been able to dry to a precise humidity level, and I've tried several different methods. There's also the problem that buds don't dry evenly. The inner parts dry slower than the outer parts. So, it can take a long time to get uniform dryness throughout. That's why we go from our drying tent to Grove bags and then to dark amber glass Mason jars.

I suspect how buds are used matters. My thinking is those of us who vape probably like the humidity level that Grove bags provide. I'm not sure it matters as much for those who smoke. That's only a wild-ass guess, though.

Jars are fine if you have a small harvest or need a stash jar. But a quart jar only holds a couple ounces and are a HUGE pain in the ass when you’re having to burp and store lbs. (Who wants a bunch of CBN weed for years past anyway?) Been using the bags for the last 3-4 years and they work great.

This is my first post on this site. But I had to register just to say... I have used the bags and even sealed them with heat. My stuff still dropped humidity levels WAY below the 58%... to the 40s. IN A BAG SEALED AND HEAT SEALED. It only took 3 months. The RH in the room was low as hell but that should not affect the inside of a sealed bag they claim is designed to keep humidity between 58 and 62.
I would rather have my stuff between 62 and 64. Just personal preference. But I have been able to smoke whatever I grow as long as its below 70. It burns decently.

My experience with the jars has always been... They work great, they DEFINITELY hold the humidity in as I have had some in jars now that I open every once in a while and they are sitting on 55 some and some 57. None of them ever went down to the 40s like what happens in those bags that are expensive. The clear Ball Jars are cheap too. You can get 64 ounce jars... 12 for like 15 bucks.

I once believed(I still do sort of but not to the point that I am dogmatic about it) that the bags held the scent of the terps sure...but steal it from the buds. They dont smell as good when you pull the actual bud out. But if you smell the buds while in the bag the scent is heavy.
Whereas the damn Jars ALWAYS have this certain smell to the buds no matter how different the buds smell.. There is this smell I cant explain. Its not bad. Its just from the jar I suppose.
But as far as keeping the humidity level.. I have some stuff that is about 1.5 years old and in the jars the humidity is still the same as when I closed it in the jar.

For those saying that they use the bags to cure and then switch to jars... Do you notice a slight loss of scent once they get in the jars but the bag still smells great with nothing in it? lol
