Wow thanks for all the positive comments guys. Im kinda shocked you all like these pics with all the awesome stuff grown here on the farm. I appreciate everyones kind words so far. It means a lot.
Its 7 weeks exactly, not six........I just re-counted the days.....49 days in....
This is a SVF OG cut that is floating around in Northern Cali at all the clubs and Im sure is just a pheno from Swerves work. So it is not an elite cut at all, however, looks to be pretty nice and I must say I am surprised at how dank it looks! I thought it might auto or go hermie on me...:) jk
1000 K HPS,in 4 by 4 flood and drain tables, in nine inch square netpots, nine plants to each table, 50 gallon reso for each table, very frequent reso changes, fed Jacks Hydroponic at aprox 70% their recommended strength, CaNo3 at 70% also, and with some added Epsom Salts for extra Mg. Ph kept at a very strict 5.7, added back only water between my frequent reso changes...No additives of any kind wanted or needed.....used nitric acid for ph down...
One thing to notice is how green the plants still are even in those close up bud shots. I dont cut back on the nutes really until the very end.....they were flowered with a profile of close to 3-1-4 (N/P/K). I will strive for clean burning ash that burns white...
N=113 ppm
P=41 ppm
K= 171 ppm
Ca= 90 ppm
Mg=50 ppm
S= 65ppm
I believe Chem/Og strains and many other in fact might need a little added Mg. That is where the epsom salts come into play. They add to the ppm of the Mg and the S. Sulphur is what makes your plants smell dank as fuck. It is hard to over do it on the S and many/most nute formulas dont really have enough. The epsom salts add Mg and S without adding Ca and N.
Total PPM of less then 800 always at a .5 conversion. When the feed is balanced the plants dont need hot nutes!
Oh yea I added dmz at 1 ml per gallon and when I ran out of that and their formula got a little funky I added straight bleach to my reso every week! Yee haw...... .5 as in a half ml per gallon............
Ca to N ratio of .8 and the N to P ratio of .66 and the K to P ratio is 4.17. I do believe some strains need a little more Mg and this is where the Epsom salts come in.
The smell is complex...sort of a sappy dankness, not a pinsol but a faint lemon essence without citrus tones but rather if you sliced a thin lemon wheel and left it out for a couple of days and it started to dry out. There is a petrol or rubber smell, not quite like certain Reislings smell like in the wine world. That rubberized smell is where the danker tones come in. Fuelish tones. This is framed, however, by a wet sappy fragrence, that smells fresh and is of a higher tone, while not fruity, or piney there is somehow a subtle sweetness to some of the odors. Perhaps from the younger resins...The plants are very sticky to say the least. They smell and look dank to the eye. The SFV OG resin glands dont stand up as high or as tall as the J-13 Ive previously grown, which are also just crazy frosted and sticky, however, there are glands everywhere. Its frosty as fuck. Its frosting on the underside of the leaves like crazy...
I am growing a Sour D cut right alongside and that stuff smells much more like skunk! I can clearly smell a skunk odor in that stuff.......
I draped a couple of pieces of sketchpad paper over my hat when I shot these tonight to reduce the effects of the glare of the hps. Two pieces of paper seem to help I might try more sheets to see what changes with the shots. I am not a photographer and I know its stupid to have some sketch paper draped over your head, but I figured wtf, and hoped it would help to take better pictures for you guys to see better example of what things really look like. I dont advocate that you should tape or drape 18 inch by 24 inch sketch paper over your ballcap/hat for picture taking!
The last 2 pictures are from the dead center of the tray under the 1000K where the bleaching has occured. Check it out!!! I have the lights up as far as possible and on a light mover!
