Hello friend....
@JJ-NYC I love your work. I like your sincerity in your comments talking about the history of your strains. I am alternative breeder and grower in Spain and retain many quality plants and I would like to try your genetics. Where I can buy seeds?

Good vibes!!!!

jj forget everybody and breed for the the reasons you did back in the beginning that's how you'll re create the magic if you go into this with competition or negative thoughts in your psyche from what's happened over the yrs it will directly obsorb into your breed and all those imitators will ultimately win. It's the positivity within you and your all star crew that will ultimately bring back what the rest can only strive for.
The truth will find the light you guys create the fire....

@JJ-NYC I'm a reporter with Al Jazeera America... I hate to intrude on your thread like this, but I'm working on an article about the origins of some of the country's most famous strains, and the pioneers behind them. I'd love to talk to you and get your insights (it can be just on background, anonymously, or however you like). Shoot me an email or give me a call - claire.gordon@aljazeera.net, 203.710.8542.

Chemdog History

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brief background: This thread was started by H&L and edited by JJ-NYC.

At a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre, 'joebrand' (aka 'wonkanobe') and 'pbud' met 'chemdog' and sold him an ounce of very high quality pot for $500. joe and chemdog exchanged numbers and they later arranged for two ounces to be shipped to chemdog on the east coast. According to chemdog, one ounce was seedless and the other had 13 seeds.

In ’91, chemdog popped the first 4 seeds. From these seeds, one male was found and disposed of (chemdog was young, you can’t blame him). The 3 females were labeled ‘chemdawg’ (now ’91 chemdawg), ‘chemdawg a’ (now chemdawg’s sister), and ‘chemdawg b’. In '01, chemdog and his girlfriend attempted to germ 3 more seeds, labeled ‘c’, ‘d’, and ‘e’. the ‘e’ seed never germinated, ‘c’ turned out to be junk (according to chemdog), and chemdawg ‘d’ was the keeper. In '06, 'chemdog' and 'joebrand' reunited and joe was given 4 of the last 6 beans: Chemdawg phenos 1-4, '4' being the chosen keeper. Joe thought the '4' was the best representation of the original and thus dubbed it the 'reunion pheno'.

In 1992, JJ became friends with the Weasel in central park. Sometime in 1992-93 the Weasel met Chemdog at a Phish show. They traded clones and he brought the Mass. Super Skunk and 91 Chemdog back with him to New York City and renamed the 91 Chem, "Diesel". Sour Diesel and Under Dawg came out of these clones.

Original Chemdawg Crosses:
• 'OG Kush' (the original cut) came from an s1 from in a bag of '91 Chemdawg in the Lake Tahoe area in 1996.
• 'Sour Diesel' aka ECSD came from an accidental cross of ('91 Chemdawg x DNL after the DNL hermed and seeded the room. The DNL's lineage is Hawaiian/RFK Skunk X NL.) or 91 Chemdawg X Mass Super Skunk
• Underdawg came from a cross of '91 Chemdawg x (Mass Super Skunk x Sensi's Northern Lights) done by a guy known as ‘weasel’.

• 'chemdog' and friends made several crosses that are held closely by a small group of friends and acquaintances. Among them are:

1. Super Snowdawg (Bubble Chem x [Super skunk x Oregon Sno])
2. Giesel (Chem D x Mass Super Skunk)
3. Bubble Chem (Chemdawg’s Sister x Sag's Bubbleberry)
4. Dawg Daze aka ChemHaze (Chem D x ’93 Sensi's NL#5/Haze)
5. Chemdawg D x Pbud (another old-school Colorado strain)

JJ-NYC has been working on a Chemdawg D-based seed line for several years now. He started by crossing Chemdawg D to Sensi's Afghani after thoroughly testing both Sensi's Afghani and Sensi's Hindu Kush to determine which was more stable and would be better for the initial cross. JJ then did a backcross, known as "Double Dawg." Several phenos of this circulate and several people still have beans. JJ's latest work to the line is a second backcross known as "Tres Dawg" which is just starting to get tested. The Tres has produced many keeper strains, Tres Dawg(Chem D X Afghani #1 BX2), Star Dawg(Chem 4 X Tres Dawg), White Dawg(The White X Tres Dawg), and recently a new 91 Chem cross, Original New York City Diesel(91 Chem X Tres Dawg).

Hey JJ. I recently recieved some San Diego Cat Piss × Stardawg from Greenpoint Seeds. Since they are a fairly new company and this is a fairly new hybrid I can't find any info on it. Next to no info on the Cat Piss but as far as the Stardawg goes my understanding is that is some of the best of the best. I haven't been able to germinate the beans yet but I am looking forward to doing so soon. Do you have any info or opinion on this hybrid from Greenpoint? I have read that you work with the original genetics from Chemdog himself and if this is true I feel blessed to have the real deal fire. Any direction from you on this would be very much appeciated. I guess I probably didn't post this in the right thread and sent it to you as a message. Oh well....Thanks.

last i checked jj isn't too happy with gu for using his work so i don't think he'll have much to say about greenpoint seeds release of stardawg.
those beans were not tested so be cautious and your probably better off just doing the research on the stardawg yourself it sounds like your on the right track already. I'm not speaking on jj's behalf just trying to give you a heads up incase you don't get a response, best of luck.

What blows my mind is how many crazy genetics have come from the single seeded ounce and 13 measley seeds. Haha and it only took him half of the thirteen to come up with Chemdog 91, Chemdog's Sister, and the other one they kept. People over here are popping 100 or more seeds every go to find that special one, and it took 8 seeds from one ounce, if those aren't magical fucking beanstalk beans I don't know what is. I wish I could pop half a pack and get some of the most popular strains of cannabis arguably ever produced.

Lol. I agree the numbers just dnt add up on anyone's scale, there's the Chemdog 91, chems sis, Chemdog D , Chemdog #4, and OG kush is supposedly a s1 of the same genetics, so I agree that it's extremely hard to believe that all the Chems , diesels, & OG kush all came from 13 seeds in herb that was seedless. So the breeder of the original Dogbud is either the best breeder "Ever" or something isn't adding up. That means one pack of seeds was responsible for producing the most memorable strains in the last 20years, and anyone who has popped a lot beans knows how unbelievable this is. My 2 cents.
Positive Vibes & Respect

I dunno brotha... One could make a strong case for Chemdog D being the undisputed best :D
She's holy grail material if I've ever seen it.
If I had to slight her... The only thing I can come up with is that the high can be a little too strong & electrifying at times.
*If I was putting together a 'in a perfect world' scenario- she'd have the high of Chemdog 91, yield like Chemdog #4, retain the D look, smell & taste... And be a 50 day finisher.
But I don't want her to be anything other than what she is now- she's a dreamboat :D

Already a beauty at day 50- by day 70...

*Thank god for stoners popping bag seed eh? :)

Still... One can only imagine what the world of cannabis would be like if chem had kept that male he found in the original ounce. Other than the occasional sterile banana that chems throw late in flower, they're pretty damn stable & pretty true breeding- atleast compared to all the loose canon OG's today that herm like clockwork.

So does anyone know the lineage further back- what was the 2 ounces of pot that produced the seeds? What was in the room/outside that pollinated it?
I'm guessing only pbud or joeB would know for sure, I just didn't know if it's been spoken of before.
I dunno... Sometimes I think...do I really want to know? I kind of like it being a mystery- "just some seeds found in a bag of pot from a grateful dead show" has a nice ring to it. It's pretty romantic that way :)

perhaps we should take a poll of which chem is the overall favorite? I'd be curious to see which comes out on top and the reasons why...

back in around 1989-1991, pot prices were really high everywhere in North America it seems.

back in around 1980 the old school roadkill skunk hit the scene in B.C. and it was the undisputed #1 best. If it was still around i wonder if it still would hold that title, too bad its been over a decade since it been in circulation. I think it didnt survive the many clonings properly.
