Chm has a lot curious and the ones that have chm all say you will not look back.

As the title says this is a test, the cat got to me how they will do in a bare bulb vert. I know I cannot be the only person thinking about a twist to heath Robinson's doughnut of dank. Now less heat off of bulb, need I say more?

This is a fresh room, build out not completed yet 6x9x12 size room.

Gear
Prism ballasts, Phillips Agro Elite 3100k bulb, phresh 10 inch filter, hyper fan, Caps Beni's, Jacks classic raw salts.

Strains
Train wreck breed project seeds
818 HPOG
Firefly
Darkstar
The wizard
Mosca mix
Jamaican blood clot.

Coir for the seeds has been pasteurized so piss off gnats, root aphids, and what ever else that WAS living or about to live. You just got cooked.

I am waiting on gear, waiting on seeds and not much is built so looks like it's time to get going.
Chm bare bulb vert test run

Edit: Once the Res and the flood tray are in place I will know if I go a double or triple stack string of Cmh bare bulbs.

The slow seed start off but there coming up. Not much going yet but soon the fun begins. The love hate twist is happening, love there coming up, but it's so Damn slow.

They stretched up good 4 inches in 4 days. Gently took them out and replanted them deeper in the cup

Thank you much demon. Demon for me it has been easy to read what you have put out for information and make sense of it all. I am just following behind you except going vert.

If I had not read what you had found I probably would of bought the T9 not knowing it's a single jacket.

For those that do not know here is a description on the Phillips agro elite chm 3100k. Don't go cheap with chm bulbs if going to try this bare bulb vert.

Philips Elite Agro 315W T12 Ceramic Metal Halide Lamp 3100k is a flowering, budding spectrum lamp designed for maximum efficiency. This Philips CMH is the bulb that comes with the Sun System Ceramic MH 120 and 240v fixture.

Okay I got a minute quick run down
Seeds germed on a damp paper towel inside of a locking sandwich bag. That was wrapped in a towel set on top of the t5 with 2 bulbs on for a day.

I didn't have Bio war roots yet, but had mykos on hand so 1/2 a tsp went in each cup.

Coir was pasteurized and soaked in Ph water 6.0 with a full dose of calimagic and 1/4 strength nutes from Gh overnite before used to plant seeds.

4 Days later repotted after seeing tails, and watered in 1 tsp of Bio War roots from capulator to 1L of water, also added .5ml of Gh micro then watered the cups to 20% run off.

If the cup gets lite from the fan blowing the air around for now just 6.0 ph tap is being used to keep the coir moist.

Waiting on a few things so maybe can get the room together soon.

There's growers who are veg/flower with the 4k bulb with good results. Gotta head over there for more info/pics/and what-not.

I try and explain thing easily or I try to

@DemonTrich atleast what you have here is pretty detailed if have been watching chm since last fall.

Ichabod cranes scrog, give that a cruise. Air layering explained easly Yeah I do read the mag as Well but man I yet in years of reading it have fully figured it out.

I have just taken a crumb off someone here or there to try and just crush everything I thought I could do.

Vertical 1 thing for sure it's a differant beast. Last run I did the leaves would twist and lift up like waving human hands. They were 10 inches from a bare super red horti 600. Dying to see them stretched, tied and swollen.

As far as mixing the spectrum I do need to get a pair of 4100's coming. Was wanting 2 -3200 and 1-4100 for a 3 bulb string. Trying to keep 60 inches exposed to bulb.
3 Bulbs 20 inches apart in a 60 inch tall column. So much still being hammered and continues on Lmao.

There's a few guys rock bare bulbs on IC. Please make sure you have a T12 style bukb and not a T9!! The t12 are made for open use, the t9 for enclosed hoods with glass.
I did not know this. Thx Trich. Your talking the Phillips t9 funky 2 prong base for cmh isnt for hanging bare bulb style correct? Only the standard t12 mogul sockets cmh bulbs? Thx again.

No, all cmh have the "funky" 2 prong tabs.
Iam confused then. Please explain the t9 and t 12 difference? I did see in an HTG catalog they had cmh bulbs with a standard mogul socket. Cant remember the wattage. Thanks.

There is a adapter you screw in the bulb socket so you can keep your lamp cord mogul socket and adapt 2 prong chm bulb without buying a different light cord

I went I to detail in another cmh thread about the differences.

Here's pics of both the t9 and t12 ( ones. Notice the size difference, and also one bulb is a single jacket (made for closed hoods, the other has a double glass jacket. This specific type of bulb is for open use only.

My pics are taking forever to upload.

See this thread

Didnt even know they are making enclosed hoods for cmh fixtures now. I can assume for growers that want to duct and air cool these hoods?

You don't need a specific hood for these. If using a hood with a mogul socket, then you'll need to buy an adapter for any cmh bulb.

Check out one of my 4x315 cmh flower threads, and see what they can do.

One of the distractions with chm research are the hoods themselves.

How is the heat being removed?

Is it a bare bulb vert that uses the hood like a heat sink and is hollow so air does not pass across the bulb rather through the hood?

Is it a horizontal bulb hood that the bulb is in a chamber of constantly circulating air?

Then the question T9 single jacket VS T12 double jacket.

Meow, it's a lot to wade through.

Bare bulb was easy choice, I do prefer vert methods. Plant expressions that's not what you expect.
Between not buying hoods x3 and not buying bottle pre dilut nutes, instead using Peters jacks hydro I just saved $1,600.

Come on over to vertical it's a very unusual way of growing. If watts and space is a issue instead of trees or banging numbers hard you can pick 4 walls and cover the walls with 1 plant each so it's just a doughnut of absolute dank. 50/50 strains a great starting point.

I am not in a tent but this is the direction I am headed. I know I am going to loose almost 5 inches a wall for insulation board that is reflective.

4 Plants, veg as long as I flower so 20 weeks start to finish.

I am trying to get my 3x3 flood tray and res in place but the box with pumps and fittings was lost in shipping, so another week of scratching my head is going on.

I still need to got nuts with pvc to make plant stands, and the fan/ lite holder/watering diverter.

Day 7..

Everyone on nutes still using Gh. Mixed 1ml to a gallon gave them a good drink, the Beni's were happy.

So far, I am happy with the start. 20 out of 25 have showed and still have couple stragglers.

Second set of real leaves starting to show so hopefully everyone is happy and waiting for food and more light soon. This is all reg seed so may get lucky in veg and see pre sex then.

I am hoping Chm can push these so in 6 weeks I will be flowering a 60 inch tall column that's 30 inches around.

Trying to squeeze a triple string in that the bulbs are on 20 inch vert spacing. Fingers crossed each bulb will be overlapped in half by the bulb beside it.

For now here is some seed porn

Train wreck cross and death star the single
