Is it ok to use a clear water reservoir for a flood table as long as it is darkened somehow to avoid light from entering? I was thinking of putting the whole reservoir into a heavy black plastic construction bag or maybe wrapping it in duct tape. Painting it would be nice but I’m not sure it would hold well to flexible plastic or contaminate the water for that matter.

I haven’t purchased any yet, but it’s just an under-the-bed plastic storage container with a clear tub and solid white lid. The only reason I’m considering it is because under-the-bed containers have the lowest height of all the containers I’ve seen and I have limited height to work with. My wife suggested using a heavy black sheet of plastic as a liner like a pool uses.

All of your ideas will work, home depot has paint made for plastic
It won't contaminate your water(as long as you paint on the outside)
Also if you decide to paint give it a quick go over with some sand paper.

You got the right idea if you want to save $. paint, cheap visqueen plastic,

In the long run paint or going for keep checking around.

EX: on CL i saw a 250 Tode for $100 that has a metal cage around it and 2" hook up at the bottom. Was food grade and washed by the farmer. Some big grower that do farmland look for people that want to take there TRASH.
