I'm glad this convo came up
There certainly can be an advantage for the plants.

Obviously, we disagree, and I am weary. I wrote a long post, only to delete it. I'm aware that I can't stop you (or anyone else) from asserting that exposure to elevated CO2 levels for extended durations is safe. As always, it's up to the readers to decide what's best for them.

Guys new grower here just setting up my equipment last thing I need to order is my carbon filter kit!

I got thinking...

My grow tent is in my bedroom as I literally have no where else to put it, would it affect me atall I have a child that sleeps in the bed with me would carbon monoxide be a problem?? I'm not very clued up about things so this is an important ask!!

Thanks guys!
I would NOT supplement co2 in the same room you sleep if that's what you're asking . If your breathing and the plants are breathing it should work out like life intended and enrich the both of you. That's how I roll.

Plants do the uptake while the lights are on, I'm guessing while you and your child are sleeping the lights are off. But you two being in the room breathing all night is giving them a good amount. And if you are worried of CO2 bottle somehow, candles really do wonders as well. CO2 meters will show you the facts. Good luck on getting everything set up along with your first grow. What genetics are you planning on popping?
I'm starting with an autoflower called black domina. Surprisingly if had two sprout out the soil already I wasn't expecting so soon my light hasn't arrived yet eek!!
And what do you mean by the candle??
Thanks

The only co2 you'll get is when you breathe out the plants will love that I think your getting mixed up stop worrying and continue growing plants use co2 to grow and release oxygen

That's a convenient cop-out. I thought this was a friendly debate, but you basically want to end the conversation by insinuating that I'm full of shite without actually saying it. I never asserted "that exposure to elevated CO2 levels for extended durations is safe" Exposure to 50% oxygen causes severe lung damage, 100%-instant death; exposure to elevated levels of any gas is dangerous. The only disagreement I see is what you consider "elevated"? Is that anything above atmospheric, appx 421ppm? *"Direct atmospheric measurements began in 1958 at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. At that time, CO₂ levels were about 313 ppm. Since then, concentrations have risen steadily, reaching 421 ppm in 2023."* So, above 313? 600? 800? What arbitrary number are you plucking from thin air to assert your position?

I'm not trying to say: "...that exposure to elevated CO2 levels for extended durations is safe." what I am saying though, is that "elevated levels" is completely arbitrary in this case & exposure to amounts produced by plants during their dark period is nowhere near enough to be concerned about or to raise an alarm to a newbie over. OSHA & MSHA both say to be concerned @5000ppm or above. I wouldn't want to sleep with CO2 above say 1500ppm (Some people run 1500, but i've never run over 1400, & certainly not in my bedroom) but that is just me & a number you would never see in your sleeping quarters unless you were an incompetent fool. At the top end of a 50-200ppm rise per an entire 12hr dark period, the 200 mentioned was with a bunch of plants in a sealed environment, not in a bedroom grow tent with 3 small plants & 2 people.

Maddison, your og post mentioned "carbon monoxide, (Co)". Plants don't produce or use carbon monoxide, it's as poisonous to plants as it is to people & pets. They do however use carbon dioxide (CO2) during lights on & photosynthesis, as stated in this and other posts. They do release very small amounts of CO2 during lights out (respiration). In my very humble, personal & (past) professional opinion, you and your child do not have to be concerned about the small amount of CO2 that plants produce. If 'LGI or anybody shows me some scientific evidence to the contrary, I'll eat crow & put my foot in my mouth right after I apologize & beg forgiveness from the community...

Ok community, so now after going down this rabbit hole, and after typing all that, I'll eat some crow & apologize for my ignorance (sort of). It seems that the recommended exposure limits are lower than I thought, but still well under what a home grow (without added CO2) would produce in 12 hrs. The good news is that the effects aren't cumulative and are quickly reversed upon return to fresh air (except in the case of prolonged exposure to levels above 1000-1500ppm).

Maddison, altho I don't believe you'd ever get above 600-800ppm of CO2; being that a child is involved, I'd recommend getting a CO2 Monitor for peace of mind (even though I've never in my life heard of indoor plants being detrimental to human life).

@LoveGrowingIt I stand partially corrected. Thank you for posting on this topic and giving an old has-been something to think about and research. I have no problem being shown the error of my ways and learning new stuff, and I will readily concede when shown to be wrong in discussion or debate.

@Maddison, I apologize for train-wrecking your thread, I hope you will forgive me. You are definitely covering all your bases and I have no doubt that you'll have many very successful grows in your future. Peace.

Happy growing and good luck! 💪 👊😉✌️

Nice! Great genetics in her for sure!
That's promising on the quick germination! Some light is better than none til your light gets there.
I saw this about a year ago.
Unscented candles for C02, though it was cool idea
